RAC Golf Club, a fast improving golf course & venue

Played a society day here just yesterday. Fantastic venue, for societies and all golfers. The venue has had lots of investment over the years and the changes are making this place better each year. The food was very good (set menu), and the staff from the pro shop to reception and restaurant were of the highest quality.

Like so many of the courses in this part of the UK, even with so much rain, the fairways were ok, and the greens were very good. It's not one of the elite and would struggle to get into the top 100, but who knows, if they keep this up? That said the greens were undulating and quirky, which helped with the playing experience.

If you are in a society, I would strongly recommend you visit this venue.

Play at Twilight if possible!

The Old Course is a good experience with some tough holes. I wasn't impressed by the bunker sand but that will teach me not to go in them! High end cost but play at twilight and the rate is reasonable (Summer months only to get 18 in!) You also have to play with a member. Clubhouse is exactly what you would expect but staff are very welcoming. Worth a visit.

Just a great place to go to and play golf

This is a private members club so you you would obviously need to know or be a member to play it but they let me on so not that fussy. Is just an amazing place to spend the day with great service and you would expect from such a prestigious place.

They have two 18 hole courses and today we played the longer Old Course. Which is in great condition and this is hands down the best course I have played. You would expect this though.

I enjoyed every hole, every shot and this is reflected in the first time I have broken 100 in ages. Is easy to putt on smooth greens, hence only 35 putts. I rarely score well on a course I play for the first time and to score 36 I was over the moon. This is due to the quality of the course and not me as the fairways are great.

They have a range and putting green but true to form I didn't go near them. The half way house is the best I ever seen although not exactly half way as it is at the end of the 7th but I could have sat there all day.

Every hole is just beautiful. I wouldn't like to say what their signature hole would be as they were all worthy of that accolade.

Obviously the post round drink was a differant class as you are waitored on by proper staff and cheaper than anywhere locally.

I have to put it down as great value as I didn't pay but I don't think its that expensive if you got invited and did pay. Around £30 I think.

If you get invited do it. If you are member there please invite me., you lucky sod. It's not actually that expensive to join. You just have to pass.
