Battle Golf Club, established in 1960, was located in East Sussex, England, encompassing 150 acres with an esteemed 18-hole parkland course. Designed by the renowned golf course architect Donald Steel, the course featured a par of 71 and was celebrated for its rolling fairways, mature trees, and strategically placed bunkers. A distinctive feature was the par-4 9th hole, which required a precise drive to navigate a narrow fairway bordered by water hazards, leading to a challenging approach to the green.
Situated near the historic Battle Abbey and adjacent to the River Adur, Battle Golf Club was easily accessible via the A27, offering convenient connections from Hastings and surrounding areas. The club had a rich history of hosting regional tournaments, including the East Sussex Open, attracting competitive golfers from across the region. Despite its excellent course conditions and scenic views of local landmarks, Battle Golf Club closed its doors in 2018 due to financial constraints. The course remains a cherished memory for golfers who enjoyed both competitive play and the tranquil beauty of East Sussex’s countryside during its operation.
