Very good alternative to top 100 clubs in UK

Society or with friends, whoever will play here will enjoy the experience. I will definitely return and play again. Course was good with great scenery all the way around. Winter has taken its toll all-over. The greens were great and the rest was being treated/looked after with great respect by the green keeper., so we'll done the team on that.

Very enjoyable round at Chartham Park

There are some good challenging holes, starting with the first having a lake in front of the green. The greens were in good condition as were the fairways. No two holes the same.Well worth a visit.

Enjoyable day's golf

Course was in very good condition, greens particularly good. Very scenic course with some challenging holes, particularly the 6th which I have still to play well after numerous attempts!
Nice clubhouse and friendly staff. Good value at £22 a round.

Terrific greens

Really enjoyed this course. Good mix of holes, and no pushover. Greens were in great shape and running true, and the course was in very good shape overall. Would definitely play it again, although we did get a good deal, and apparently it is usually a lot more expensive.

Lovely Course, even in March!!

Chartham Park is well worth a visit. Nice fairways, picturesque holes, although the greens were a little bit bobbly due to work done to them over the winter. We paid £11.50 each with a 2 for 1 voucher and their winter offer, absolutely great value for money.

Pleasant & challenging course wtih lots of water features.....

Today, 20 Sept 2012, I had the privilege to join the Pine Tree Society run by Roger A., via the TSG website.

Chartham Park is a 30 years old parkland course, designed by Neil Coles, by no means flat, set within a Health & Fitness complex.

The numerous water features (ponds, lakes filled with carps, streams, fountains) are cleverly incorported into the design making the course a very challenging one, the lovely trees (some 200 years old) add to the challenge. The back nine have pretty heathlands. Some great views of the North Downs.

My experience & my favourite holes:

My round did not start too well, I lost a ball into the water (yes it is everywhere) on the 1st & 2nd hole, so my score was not too great on the front nine, but as I am not the one to give up easily, I managed a great recovery with a great score, on the 2nd nine & was rewarded by a prize of 3 shiny Srixon golf balls!

Hole 6th, Par 4: a raised Tee, to a short sloping fairway leading to semi-rough, up to an ascending green sloping somewhere, with well placed bunkers. Once you have negotiated this tough hole you can then admire the wonderful views of the North Downs & surrounding villages.

Hole 16th, Par 4, a dogleg Left, sloping fairway to the left & OOB, lake with fountain both on the Left & Right of the fairway. The green is across flowing stream that joins the 2 lakes. Trees on the other side of the bridge, & could be in your way... A very pretty & challenging hole .

Hole 17th, Par 3, another very interesting hole, across the water to a raised green with sand traps in all 4 corners. If the wind is present it will be a tough challenge as some of my group found out & ended up in the water, I was the only one that got across safely !

Course in great condition, so were the bunkers and the greens with many different ondulations. Well maintained & cared for. A pleasure to play.

A drink & a meal after the game, the prizes & farewell to everyone.

I took advantage of a special offer at the Heath/Fitness club & had the opportunity to use the pool/jacuzzi/steam room (all very pleasurable) & by doing this I missed all the rush hour traffic on the M25.

Th Pine Tree Society is very welcoming to TSGers, runs every 3rd Thursday of the month (except in December/January), has excellent venues & value for money, you can choose to have breakfast &/or lunch to suit your budget with your 18 holes.

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome. A very enjoyable day where I made acquaintance with more fellow TSGers: what a big family & still growing, so his my "List of Friends".....

THE END.... of this review, I promise.

pro-shop small but course well maintained

A very small Pro-Shop was a bit dissapointing but the course its self was well maintained with good tee's and greens.

The course itself suits both the big hitters and the more precise players with holes to challenge all types of swings.

Some beautiful scenery that was slightly overshadowed by the constant noise of aeroplanes overhead being situated close to Gatwick, but once you forget about the noise you can really appreciate the course.

The food was very good and the price was acceptable. The Society payed £45 per head which included a cooked breakfast 18 holes and a hot meal afterwards.

I would play this course again.

great and will be back

I played Chartham Park for the first time in a matchplay match. The course played well with a number of challenging holes. The day was a bit chilly and over cast but played good there are some well placed bunkers
and the water can come into play if you are abit wayward like i was on the 11th. Will be back in the summer.

Nice course but busy!

Nice course, would definitely play here again, although not on a Friday afternoon in July as it was busy.

Greens we're not exceptionally fast. Some thick rough not to far from the fairway though, I lost 3 balls from decent shots that didn't go far astray. There are mounds alongside some of the fairways, and if you don't see where it lands there's a good chance you won't find your ball.

Prices in the bar were a bit steep, three cheese and pickle sandwiches to take on the course, came to over £13! Unfortunately, pro shop only sells sweets and drinks, no proper food, and there is no cart going round the course.

A favourite

One of my favourite clubs.
As a member of the essex, I used to get free green fees to this course as they CP is owned by the Club Company.
Facilites are very good with a friendly atmosphere.
Course is very nice with different challenges facing you on each hole!
