Singing Hills Golf Course

Nice course with plenty of interesting holes. On the lake and river, other than the abundant use of doglegs, the holes are all pretty varied, so no boredom.

I am probably the only person that could hear the "singing" but that is my special gift. Singing Hills Golf course is only 20 years old but already well established. The design follows the natural contours of the valley, the rivers & the lakes. All this with the very pictuesque Sussex Downs as a back drop. An expansive setting made of 3 loops of 9 holes, each loop with its own challenges:

Any combination will give you an interesting and varied game.

A friendly welcome in the perched up Proshop, of circular shape, very light & airy, well stocked with classy brands of clothings for Men & Women and a vast choice of equipment. As there are NO buggies at Singing Hills, our "Titanium TSGer" was offered a free round for walking the course. When checking in, I made sure that the Lakes and the River were included in our 18 holes as the Lakes has the most amazing Par 3, (hole 2): an island slightly raised, just over 100 yds long, 1 large bunker at the back and 1 on the right hand side of the green which is sloping back to front. Most of us managed it very well, but I did not, maybe I was a little apprehensive of the 2 swans swimming in the deep water! The 2 loops we played on have a good fluid design with neat paths leading to the next hole. Each Tee box has a square flower pot full of bright summer colours, ball washer & towel. Nice fairways, well kept, well cut grass, some sloping, some up & down the hills, lots of water come into play as the names 'Lakes' & 'River' imply. A real challenge & a 2nd visit will probably produce a better score. The greens were of excellent quality and true, a pleasure to putt. The sun was shining, the air was warm, a slight breeze and this vast expanse of 27 holes did look resplendiscent.

The Lakes: Hole 2, described above: the Island hole..

The Rivers: Hole 1, Par 4, sloping to the right, where a steam crosses the fairway diagonally, with large mature trees to get over, stream on the left which is OOB, then uphill to a sloping green, well guarded by bunkers. Hole 2, Par 4, a Tee shot over 2 lakes, fairways sloping to the left, more water hidden on the right, with large trees, before reaching the green. Hole 9, Par 3, a long one, 170 yds from Yellow and 162 from Red, the fairways downhill towards an elongated lake 4 times the width of the green which is raised, OOB on the right, a tall tree before the lakes. I dont think one can see the lake from the Tees. Very interesting and beautiful hole.

I could describe many more as there is always something that sticks in my memory, but I dont want to make this review too long. Very pleasant clubhouse with good selection of food and local beers, sunny patio area overlooking a practice putting green, the large uphill open driving range with distance flag and chipping area. A large Car Park with some shade.

Will certainly return when next visiting West Sussex and if you are in the area, do go and play golf and enjoy Singing Hills as it offers a challenge for every golfer, and you will receive a warm weclome.
