Worthing Golf Club

Worthing has two courses, the Lower and Upper. I played the Lower course which is generally regarded as the premier of the two.
The course was in wonderful condition; tee-boxes, fairways; bunkers and greens.There are significant changes in elevation to negotiate, the most severe uphill challenges being on the back 9. The par 4s indices 1, 2 & 3 were particularly difficult, especially when the very windy conditions materialised for the back 9. The par 3s were also a beautiful challenge.

The Lower course is a par 69, with an SSS of 70; 6505 yards from the whites and 6184 yards off the yellows. I played the course once previously with Roger Ackerman's Pinetrees Society.
Weekday visitor fees are £50 for the Lower course, £25 as a members guest or £30 with a County Card. The green fess for the Upper course are lower.
By entering the club's Seniors Open Stableford Competition with an entry fee of £40 including coffee; 18 holes, a two course buffet lunch and prizes, I enjoyed excellent VFM. The club also provided bananas, biscuits and bottled water at the 1st tee.
The VFM was even more so by the fact that my two playing competitors as individuals were also team partners and in this context we won the team event by 1 point on 102 points, winning a £40 voucher each to spend in the club pro-shop. Unsurprisingly one of my teammates (Alan Frew) was the overall winner on 38 points, 20 on the back nine in very windy conditions.

Hospitality by our competition organisers, the Worthing membership and catering providers was also very welcoming and of high order.

There is an excellent pro-shop; practice facilities were excellent though I did not personally use them.
