I am trying to plan a trip to play Machrihanish Dunes along with some of other courses in the area and will be travelling up from somewhere close to London. Having done a similar trip about a decade ago I went through the usual routine of planning to drive to Adrossan, stay overnight, ferries to Arran and onward.

Plan complete it was clear there was far too much driving, standing on a ferry for a lot of people so I thought I would check if one could fly. Indeed you can, Heathrow > Glasgow and then you can get on a tiny plane with LoganAir and get from Glasgow > Cambeltown (£35 each way!) .

Well there is a catch, LoganAir will try to take your clubs for an extra £10  but can't guarantee this and I have a feeling that in the summer many passengers might be playing golf. Anyway on the LoganAir website there was a link to sendmybag.com.

The idea is that you send your clubs in advance to the hotel you are staying at and avoid the the airlines fees.

Has anyone used this type of service? Any comments much appreciated.

If you are interested in a 4/5 day trip to Machrihanish let me know and I will add you to the WhatsApp group.

Thanks
John
