Welcome to the TSG MatchPlay Championship 2017(Sponsored by The Altonwood Group). In order to secure your place in this year’s event, join this group by Friday 3rd March at Midnight and we will put your name in the hat for the draw. This competition is ONLY open to TSG PRO members and there is only room for 64 golfers and you will require a TSG Handicap to enter(3+ cards). The tournament will be a knock-out style format and you will have one month to complete each match. First player in each tie has first dibs on venue. Games will commence in April. Standard MatchPlay rules will apply but MUST be agreed by both players before the match begins (more info to be published at start of competition). Those failing to complete their games will have their matches decided by the toss of a coin. It's free to enter and will culminate in a Grand Final in Sept. This year will again see a third place play-off. Finalists will play for free and others wishing to come along for a 'social' day in order to watch the winner crowned will be able to do so at 'Members' rates (TBC). Current TSG MatchPlay Champion 2016 – Wayne Fitzgerald (H’cap 10).
What a fantastic day. How lucky were we with the sun shining and a chance to wear loud colours, shorts and skirts. From start to finish - my opponent - Ollie was great company and although the game went my way - Ollie never stopped smiling and we had a really relaxed fun afternoon. In fact that was the spirit of the day. Good friends having a chance to socialise and great to meet new people. Well done Champ Andy and to Chris as runner up. Thank you Ian and Brigitte and all who supported this event. Match play is the best.As an aside - the bruise on my leg is still there - but healing nicely.

Sorry its taken me so long to respond, been without internet last couple of weeks and my Nokia 3310 doesn't seem to have Internet access ??I'd just like to thank Ollie for arranging the game. I think it may have had a different outcome had the nerves not got the better of him. looking forward to the final on Sunday, I'm sure it'll be a great day surrounded by great people
Any words from the other finalist?

Many congratulations to Andy for making it through to the final and to Ollie for getting to the semi's!! We are now down to the final two and they say in the boxing world (and as Marvin Gay once said) ... LET'S GET IT ON!Ian & The TSG Team
Congratulations to Andy for the 6 & 5 victory yesterday on a blustery day at Birchwood Park. He was too consistent for me from start to finish, with a run of winning 3 holes on the bounce around the turn really turning up the heat. I (typically) decided to save my best golf for once the match was over with a run of 4 consecutive pars on 15, 16, 17 & 18.Good luck to Andy for the final, and thanks to Phil and Chris for the company. Was a fun round (the highlight of course being the now infamous 2 iron).
Many congratulations to Chris for making it through to the final and to Judy for flying the flag for the ladies, a gallant effort! If those involved in the other semi-final tie could confirm the result, we can make the formal announcements in the Sept newsletter ahead of the final. Ian & The TSG Event Team
I know the result of the other match but I will leave the announcement for A and O to post.
Thanks Judy for the great hospitality, really enjoyed playing at Blackheath, by far the most interesting course i have played and the best fairways for sure. can't believe i managed to dodge all those bunkers by the skin of my teeth. was such a competitive match with multiple swings in momentum, and i'm very grateful for the shot by shot advice you gave me at every turn, a lesser competitor might not have told me about the many many hazards haha. look forward to playing you again and i'll see you on the day of the final :)
Judy, you done the Ladies proud. Looking forward to cheering you in at The Addington xx. Also, congrats to Chris on reaching the final :-)-- 03/09/2017 15:00:28: comment edited by Mark Crane.

Chris and I played our semi-final today. This was Chris's first visit to RBGC and the course was recovering well from our recent maintenance program. I had already been warned to try and hide Chris's 4 iron but nobody had told me about the 5 iron. It was a very close match either 1 up - all square or 1 down and I was lucky to be 2 up after the front 9 as Chris was a very tough opponent and I was not on my game today. Then we hit the back 9 and Chris won 10, 11 and 12. In fact I had a mare on 10 and 12 and was giving a shot on 11 but I would have had to have birdied to beat Chris's 5 on that hole. I won 13 and lost 14 even though Chris had taken a penalty - he got a 5 and I was giving a shot so getting a 6 wasn't the way to win that hole! We halved 15 so I was just 1 down and 3 to play. I had a mare 16. 2 down and 2 to play. I had to give a shot on 17. My tee is quite a distance behind the yellow as it is a par 5 and it is the ladies stroke index 16 but the men's stroke index 4. I had to do something special. I was at the back of the green in 3 and holed the putt. A birdie. Chris was at the side of the green for 2. He 2 putted and made par. I would have had to have made albatross to have won 17. So Chris is in the final and deserves his place. Well done Chris. You were great company. Whoever wins out of Andy and Ollie - watch out for the Knight with the 4 and 5 sword. As for me - I had a good run and proud to fly the flag for the girls this far. Look forward to hearing the result of the A v O match and to finding out who my opponent will be for the 3rd place play off at The Addington.
Wishing everyone enjoyable and close matches.
Ohhhh... sounds like we'll have to split screens for the TV viewing public to switch between events! :O)
September 2nd is the date for Chris and I to play our semi-final match at RBGC.

Andy and I will be playing our semi-final match on September 3rd at Birchwood Park.
Very well done Ollie on a well deserved win. Your Speith like finishing holes were just too much! Good luck in the Semi's!
Well done Ollie and commiserations to Roland. Sounds like a great match. I strongly suspect Roland has secured this months green towel with yesterday's nett 51 as consolation.
