About me: Played golf on an off 3 times. Just restarted cos my partner is learning. Use to be off 15? Better swing now but still have the disasters that wreck cards !

9 hole + 18 hole par 3 course + driving range but rough !

Castle Hawk Golf Club is a mess ! A 9 hole full size course built on a hillside behind Rochdale Junction. Course poorly maintained and the greens are small. Cap park is a mud patch with no tarmac or chippings etc ? Clubhouse is a collection of sheds and a caravan and looks like a dockside cafe inside although it is friendly. The driving range divides the course and on the 3 holes next to it it is VERY difficult to find your ball as these holes are strewn with range balls hit over or through the fencing ! The par 3 course in particular is littered with discarded cans and beer/cider bottles and other litter. Driving range is OK but not much in the way of tees to use ? Even for beginners its a bit of a let down ? We won't be going back.

Nice course, well worth the visit !

Sutton Hall Golf Club is a nice friendly parkland course with wide fairways and a variety of holes, some long. Course was well maintained in pretty good condition especially the USPGA greens. Clubhouse was friendly/unfriendly. I think it was great value and will be coming back. Well worth a visit !

Awful boggy track - Avoid at all cost ?

Regent Park Golf Club was a very pretty parkland course with tight fairways and deep bunkers, once apparently ? Course is currently a morass of mud and standing water with lakes where the bunkers used to be ! Looks badly maintained just now except for the greens which were surprisingly good considering the rainfall albeit with pitch marks and scuff damage on most ? Also 4 holes in the lowest and wettest part are closed and have been excavated in some sort of up-grade? This leaves a revised layour with at least 3 instances of "Where on earth is the next tee ?" especially the 5th with an unsignposted 60 yard walk across a practice area to find the tee ? Clubhouse was close on the Sunday we visited too! We only paid £7 each but we will NOT be coming back any time soon ! AVOID ! ?
