Description
Goodwood offers two superb golf courses. The Downs Course and the Goodwood Park course. The Downs Course is generally accepted as being one of the premier golf courses in Britain. It provides a challenge, even to the more experienced golfer. Not only does the course test every aspect of play, it is thought to be one of the most beautiful and spectacular, nestled between the South Downs and the Solent with dramatic views across the landscape. This par 72, 6,530yard course is set in 150 acres of countryside on the Goodwood Estate and was designed in 1892. The Goodwood Park course designed in 1987 by renowned golf architect Donald Steele, lies within the parkland surrounding Goodwood House. The Championship par 72 golf course at 6650 yards, has been carefully designed to blend in with the splendid surroundings of the Estate. Providing a test for both experienced golfer and those new to the game, this combined with the facilities and service standard for which Goodwood is renowned make Goodwood Park the perfect golfing location.

bloody hilly

goodwood is a vast estate with 2 courses although they are about a mile or so apart, we played the members downs course and the first thing that struck me was how helpful and friendly the staff were to us which i wasn't really expecting. the course itself consists of 18 good interesting holes with a few of them great, greens were good although we all found them very hard to read, my only criticism would be that there is a large amount of raised tees with some great views but very steep climbs up to and some really long walks between the greens and next tee which seemed to make the course a little disjointed and lacking flow. overall well worth playing this lovely course set in great surroundings although £100 is like the rest of the course a bit steep

Retro Buggies, Brave Pheasants & Free Air Show!

I hadnt played goodwood for a while until today as it can be pricey and a bit elitest occasionally!

Having said that today it was superb, it has a lovely feel, well cared for with some nice touches and a terrific clubhouse as you would expect from Goodwood.

Loads of Wildlife out on the course especially the pheasants who will not move off the fairways for anyone! Got treated to a load of wartime planes doing acrobatics on the 6th and 7th - great fun! The airfield and racetrack is very close by so it can get noisy on the front 9!
