DESCRIPTION:

Swinley Forest Golf Club in Ascot is renowned for its exceptional heathland layout, offering a truly unique and exclusive golfing experience. Designed by the legendary Harry Colt, this par 69 course spans approximately 6,000 yards, demanding precision and strategic play despite its modest length.

Located near Ascot Racecourse and easily accessible via the M3 and M4, Swinley Forest is nestled amidst towering pines and heather-clad landscapes, delivering breathtaking vistas and a tranquil, secluded atmosphere. The natural contours of the land have been expertly utilised to create gently undulating fairways and challenging greens that test even the most accomplished golfers.

Distinctive features include impeccably crafted bunkers, fast-running fairways, and elevated tees that provide panoramic views of the lush Berkshire countryside. The par threes are particularly memorable, with demanding carries over vibrant heather and well-guarded greens. The course’s subtle strategic challenges require thoughtful shot selection and finesse, rewarding accuracy over power.

Swinley Forest Golf Club’s exquisite design, serene setting, and rich heritage make it one of England’s most prestigious golfing destinations, cherished by purists for its timeless appeal and unmatched character.

simply stunning

I was lucky to be invited to play here on a society day and while it was pretty expensive the £160 was for the day and included, bacon rolls and coffee, 3 course carvery lunch and tea after plus as many holes as you could fit in.

after playing Hankley Common, New Zealand and Walton Heath this year, Swinley is right up there with them.

its not the longest course and its main defence are the greens and even though we had torrential rain the day before they were still pretty quick and i shudder to think how quick they are in the height of summer!

there are no weak holes here and every one of them is stunning.

if you get the chance to play here, grab it with both hands as you wont be disappointed
