DESCRIPTION:

Foxhills Golf Club, set within a luxurious resort in Surrey, offers two exceptional 18-hole courses: the Longcross and the Bernard Hunt. The Longcross Course, a par-72 stretching over 6,743 yards, is known for its tree-lined fairways and natural beauty, providing a strategic challenge for golfers. The Bernard Hunt Course, also a par-72 layout, measures 6,840 yards and features well-placed bunkers, rolling fairways, and scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The signature par-5 sixth on the Longcross requires a precise drive through a narrow tree corridor, while the par-3 twelfth on the Bernard Hunt tests golfers’ accuracy over a water hazard. Conveniently located near the M3 and M25, Foxhills is easily accessible from London and surrounding areas. With nearby attractions such as Windsor Castle and the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Foxhills Golf Club offers a premier golfing experience enhanced by luxurious amenities, making it one of the top destinations for golfers in the South of England.

Some spot!!

Returned to play at Foxhills after my initial round was rained off a few months ago. Managed to join 3 lads and make up a 4 ball. Course had just had the fairways sanded which meant some shots were being played with a large amount of sand under your ball. Made it a bit Micky Mouse at times. Otherwise the course we played - The Longcross - was great. Challenging holes and a bit tighter course than the other Bernard Hunt one. Had a good game with only a few mishaps on the way round.

Great practice facilities and a nice atmosphere in the clubhouse. It caters for the tennis club and also the health and fitness club. Busy place.

Maybe a bit pricey but I was using the voucher I won from The Social Golfer so I was quids in!!

May go back . . . . .if I can get a deal!!

Foxhills on a summers day

Played with a member, really enjoyed the course and the holes. Fairways ok, greens pretty good - the overall scenery is great, like a really good walk around. They say its better in the summer, so overall I would be happy to come back. I paid £40 as a guest, not sure £50 is where I want to be at, but curious to know how the other course is also.

Interesting tree lined course

Played the Longcross on a charity day, followed by dinner.
Enjoyed the course, interesting mix of holes, with some quite tight tree lined tee shots to contend with, and two long challenging par threes.
Only negative was that a few of the greens had patchwork turfs making up some areas on them for some reason, making putting a bit of a lottery?
Excellent practice facilities. Food was good. Lovely setting. Would play again, but pricey.

well established , mature parkland..

well maintained, lots of feature holes, nothing easy and greens just a bit slick. follow sat nav as road signs might beca distraction. abundant parking and an expansive site, hotel, spa, and golf.

marshalls/starter in attendance and a very pleasant half way house.

this was a complimentary round so obviously value for money.. unless you are local this us a bit of a drag around the m25 so give yourself plenty of time to get thete. once there you will enjoy the experience and challenge of the bernard hunt course...

never had the time to experience the cuisine options but it looked ok from the passing glance.

worth a return trip of course...

not worth the drive

its good value if you are not paying a lot to play but the normal green fees asked do not reflect the course, there are a few great holes but generally you could be anywhere on an v average course.its no Woburn.

Foxhills

This was my 3rd visit to Foxhills (Bernard Hunt)the last being in 2008, I remembered every hole on the back but nothing on the front, it has improved in its maturity and is a very nice layout the biggest draw back on the day was the greens which had been harrowed. The facilities are fantastic, just glad I didn't have to pay (£95 each), the staff were very friendly, which is unusual for posh clubs. would recommend it but only as long as you can get a deal.

So beautiful with its multicoloured Autumn coat... Bernard Hunt course

The first 12 holes are very spectacular with the various trees adorning their multicoloured coat. The 18th is a superb finishing hole, where the extremely wide green is shared with the 18th of the Longcross course, just in front of the lovely modern Clubhouse.

Quite a challenge on a very enjoyable & mature & fairly long parkland course, with six par 5, eight par 4 & four par 3, (SSS of 73 from white or red tees, yellows a mere 71), some water comes into play occasionally, across or lateral. Great condition on fairways, bunkers full of light fluffy sand, greens slightly woolly but managed some great putts, with many 1 putt only........but do not go in the rough or you have a hard time. Lots of beautiful mature & varied trees, but there is clearance at their base on the tight fairways.

Some favourites: the 3rd, 8th, 9th & 18th...

The 9th, a short Par 4 , very slight dog leg, uphill, quite narrow but long green well protected by 2 front bunkers. A long walk around & up to the lovely half way hut which serves a great coffee and a fantastic egg & bacon baps which our host (Fiesal B.) & member of this club treated us to. A nice interval before attacking the very tough last 9 holes.

As usual a very warm reception in the Pro shop with the latest winter fashion for Men & Ladies.... all the Galvin Green & Roenisch.... The same in the super pleasant Clubhouse : it feels like one is seating in one's own living room: light, airy, modern furniture, plants, fireplace, paintings & photographs on the walls, plenty of Feng Shui there, my sort of place.....I could spend all day just relaxing there.

Mr L. and I were the luckily guests of Fiesal B. who is a member of Foxhills, thank you so much for a fabulous day which will be remembered for a very long time.

Its ok.....

Played the Bernard Hunt....Nice course.....my favourite of the 2 at foxhills and I have played both a lot. Always something be worked on which would annoy me if I wasn't using corporate membership. Theres always a mat or temporary green or noise to annoy you.....and parts of the course are terrible draining.....seem to be boggy all year round! The greens are always good though....true and quite fast. Some great holes....some average ones.....and some that with better care would be great. Only play if you get a deal.

Chauffeur driven..Wow what a treat & I am in love with Foxhills....

"Fred" picked me up as arranged & took me to the friendliest golf club I have ever been to, only 15 minutes drive from my home.

Elegant, classy (with the modern notes), good looking (picturesque), witty (challenging), friendly & pleasing, all the traits I enjoy in a place and admire in a person !!!! so that is why I fell in love with Foxhills.

Where do I start ? There is so much to tell. Foxhill is a Country Club that has a lot to offer: golf, tennis, pools, spa, restaurants, hotel in a 19th century Manor House, looks very enticing (look at the website) in a very picturesque Surrey parkland amongst Scot pine, beech, silver birch trees, some heathers & ferns.

I shall give my attention to the golf side as that was the reason of my visit today. There are 2 x 18 holes courses, The Longcross & The Bernard Hunt + a 9 holes Par 3, The Manor. A very appropriate logo, a tall fox dressed up in very smart golf clothes adorns literature, flags, ball markers, some clothing etc...

Today, we played The Longcross, a challenging 18 holes, very beautiful where-ever you look & I must say it gets more & more interesting as you go along, the last 9s are truly superb with more elevations. It is hard to pick my favourite holes but will try to limit my choice to 3, well maybe....

8th, Par 4, a sharp dog left left, with sloping fairways left too, 3 strategic bunkers (1 fairway, 2 green) and a tall Scot pine on the approach to the green, immaculate fairway lined all the way by beautiful trees.

11th, Par 3, elevated tee, 1 ditch some 70 yards from the very wide green guarded by 2 large bunkers on either side.

16th, another Par 3, this is actually my host (charming TSGer Feisal B.)'s favourite: raised tee, running ditch on the right hand side, a large pond full of reeds before the green & 3 strategically placed bunkers, a Birdie or a Par can easily be made, well maybe the 2nd time around....

I must mention the 14th Par 5... described as "the greatest hole ever played" by BBC Radio 5 Listeners & I give it my concensus.

Just one more: the splendid 18th Par 5, a long double leg left, raised tee, over a ditch, lots of bunkers in most golfers reach, uphill fairway till the turn, then come the very tall lonely Scot pine in the fairway some 118 yards from the large shared green with the Bernard Hunt 18th...

Every hole is lined with numerous trees very neatly pruned & spaced where errand shots are not too severely punished and the spacing give a view of the adjacent fairways.

There are some water hazards, little ponds & a few ditches to negotiate.

The fairways are lush green carpets, very well cared for, hardly any noticeable divots !

The greens are immaculate, such a pleasure to sink those putts. The subtle undulations will truly test your putting skills, the edge surrounding each hole is perfectly flat, a delight, so no 3 putts today, just lots of 1 putt and some 2s, golf is so enjoyable when conditions are like that. The greens seem to play long and plenty of space at the back of the flags

Bunkers: not a great number of them, but always in a very strategic position, a little damp but very manageable.

There is a half way hut serving 1st class coffee, with seating area by the 10th tee, where one can admire the heathers & decorative bushes making it a very attractive place for a pause and admire the picturesque surrounds.

The Pro shop: class/quality clothing, lots of women's clothes on display, accessories, equipment etc... Only the best makes I know. Very friendly Pros that give you all the attention that makes a golf day very memorable.

Ladies changing room/facilities, the 1st part is very modern, the 2nd part is well equipped, large with plenty of seating area, mirrors, lockers, etc. but a little older in style & appearance.

A very large Car Park, well designed to accommodate all the Members of this charming Country Club, The golf members I met are very approachable, seem happy & relaxed.

Modern covered driving range, 3 putting greens, a chipping/bunker practice area.

The Clubhouse or XIX, only 7 or 8 years old, exceptionally well designed, light, spacious with modern colours & furniture, very swish fireplace, very attractive seating arrangements, real orchids on every table. A large covered veranda (with retractable glass covers) overlooking the shared (or double) 18th green of The Longcross or Bernard Hunt's course. A terrace at the front of the XIX, very popular in warm sunny days.

The staff is extremely courteous, smiling & attentive, they seem happy & relaxed just like the Members.

The food is 1s class and the prices reasonable, coffee is to die for (had 3 cups today, so cannot sleep yet, that is probably why I am writing my review and posting photos at 1.30am....). I recommend the "Foxhill Burger", with all the trimmings, we even had a beautiful candle lit providing a subtle warming atmosphere from the blue glass holder.

Without the TSG (The Social Golfer) this wonderful experience/day would have never happened. Well it is "my joining date's anniversary" today, yes I joined on 11.11.2011... when a famous Mr John A. go me to sign in at the London Golf Show, Earls Court.

So a big thank you to Feisal B. for letting me share this experience, got me thinking about membership again.... Foxhill offers a variety of membership options, so studying the literature.

I had wanted to play golf at Foxhills for a long time but did not know what to expect, but I can assure you this is truly the friendliest golf club I have ever been to.

No doubt, I shall return soon, very soon.......and if you get a chance to play at Foxhills, grab it quick.

Yes....THE END......
(Not sure how many will have read this review till the end). A bit more to add:

Fairleigh GC (formerly know as Farleigh Court GC) is now owned by Foxhills so expect some excellent standards, will try and report soon.

Today 11.11 @ 11am @ Foxhills a horn was sounded and everyone present paid their 2 minutes respect to all those who gave their lives for a better world.

Awesome experience always

This is my home club and both courses present a tough challenge. The fairways were like carpets and the greens very true. Good sand in bunkers and whilst tight and tree-lined, much of the bushes and rough has been cut down to speed up play and not all errant shots were punished with lost balls as was the case last season. The food is always excellent and you will not find a warmer 19th hole anywhere. The clubhouse is bright and spacious with terraced areas overlooking both 18th holes to get refreshed.
Changing facilities are plush and the Pro shop very friendly.
There is an excellent driving range and three practice putting greens.

I want to go back, tomorrow....

I played here as part of a company day out and was very impressed with everything from the drive up to The Clubhouse to the changing rooms - everything about this place says quality. That said, Foxhills is one of those places that you've heard about but never really sure whether it will live up to the hype OR be worth the money...well in this case, both are true!

We played the Longcross course - just over 6000 in length - the course it is lined with pine trees for almost all of its 18 holes with no two holes the same. N.B. The 14th was recently voted one of the greatest holes ever played by BBC Radio 5 Live listeners. The greens are immaculate and the course proves to be a test for everyone but don't be put off, you can score here.

However, the real joy comes from relaxing in the spike bar and whilst expensive to eat, the food is superb. I wouldn't probably have chosen to play here of my own devices (especially at £70 to play at weekends) but now that I have, I will be hunting out the deals e.g. £130 for a midweek four-ball... roll on the spring!

Great course, thoroughly enjoyed it here

Lovely to play, i wish i could do it the justice it deserves, i will be back to have another crack at the course in a year or so.
I played with a member which makes it much more affordable, so well worth the money in that respect.
A bit off putting having a helicopter landing while I was playing the 9th, but entertaining nonetheless.
Cheeky little 'bet' with the starter who was impressed with my putting- a shame it only lasted on the practice green. ;)

Star treatment

Bernrd Hunt course is demanding and as I couldn't find the fairway, I was scrambling all the time. Very picturesque but no walk in the park. bring your A game; unfortunately I didn't.

Clubhouse facilities excellent and pool/spa worth a visit. All pretty luxurious stuff.

FOXHILLS GC

I was fortunate to play "The Longcross" for free today. A course in the Surrey tradition, with rolling fairways set amongst avenues of trees. Plenty of changes in elevation and sharp doglegs to be overcome before reaching large greens with subtle breaks - and it is TIGHT! Playable off the yellows as long as you keep it straight. Very enjoyable and I look fwd to playing "The Bernard Hunt" soon. Excellent clubhouse facilities. Well worth watching out for deals to discount the standard premium green fees.
