Great course, will be back when it's dry

Played CR as a practice but got caught in a rain storm which spoilt the round. Lovely course in great condition given all the poor weather of late. Interesting and challenging course which I imagine will be lovely to play in better weather.

The course was having green maintenance but still rolled well, they offered a reduced green fee due to these works.

Course Ok, but infrastructure needs attention.

Firstly, the entrance is off the A246 (Epsom Road) some sat navs, including mine, take you down Clandon Road and there is no entrance there, so be careful.
This was a Society Day - £62 - coffee & bacon roll, 18 holes and one course meal (lasagne, garlic bread and coffee) , which was a bit sparse, but you get what you pay for. Nice clubhouse, changing rooms and bar/restaurant area.
The course was in decent condition considering the rain there had been in the previous week. fairways well mown and greens surprisingly fast considering they were wet and the grass was not short. They must be like lightning in summer.
The way to both the 1st and especially the 10th need far better signposting. As do the way to some tee boxes from the previous green. No printed course planners available and no map signs on the tee box to show the hole pictorially. The latter is a big negative in my opinion. My Bushnell did not pick up the course and I was not the only one with that problem. Garmins worked OK.
I'd play it again now I know how to get there and my way around.

A very good parkland course

Clandon Regis is a 6,485 yards (off the whites) par 72 parkland course in West Clandon, Surrey, not far from Guildford.

The course ids a conventionally structured par 72. The SSS is par 72 indicating the assessed difficulty of the course. The yellow tees course is over 500 yards shorter than the whites but the SSS is three shots less at 69.
I had played the course once before on a Groupon cheap two-ball voucher so I was looking forward to playing it again. On this occasion I played it by entering their annual Seniors Open Stableford Competition.

The competition was played following significant overnight rain on the course, which left the rough areas as being lush and damp, the fairways and green were in excellent condition. Greens are generally large and very undulating, thus putting was somewhat tricky. Water featured on a few holes and either 'long' lush rough or heavy rough awaited wayward drives.

This is a members club. Midweek visitor green fess are £40 for 18 holes or £50 for a day ticket. County Cards are £25. In terms of general VFM I would be happy to pay the County Card rate but not £40. However, on this occasion by entering their annual Seniors Open Stableford Competition, the competition entry fee was £35, including coffee/bacon roll, 18 holes, a carvery roast lunch and sweet, coffee and prizes. This was a truly wonderfull VFM.

The club competition organisers, membership and staff hosted a wonderful golf day/event. The catering was wonderful.

I enjoyed the course very much and would happily play it again. It doesn't quite get into the 'must play' or 'play it if you can' category but I think it is an enjoyable challenge. Their website indicates that societies are welcome midweek.

Friendly Club but overpriced....

Took a last minute opportunity to play this course on a Tuesday pm... and fell in love with it.

Lovely parkland course, with sweeping fairways, great expansive greens, good tee boxes and a good variance of holes. Actually no, it has a GREAT variance of holes.

The club boasts it is the 'friendliest golf club in Surrey' and apart from the PRO(!), they are right. All the Bar staff were very welcoming and good fun.

It's a little dated in the clubhouse and the food was OK (-ish), check out the website(!).... but it's the course that will keep you coming back.

My only gripe was that I feel Once again a £40 fee (mid-week pm!!) is over-priced but then I guess this is reflected in the fact the course was empty.

Will return once I find a discount code!

Lovely course

Hard to fault anything about Clandon Regis. The clubhouse, course, and practise facilities are all really excellent.

The fairways aren't the widest I've seen, but they generally aren't very narrow either. However, stray into the rough and it will be a tough ask finding the ball, as the grass is knee deep in summer. I found this out to my cost today!

The greens were all excellent, although very tough to stop the ball on. As for the holes, there's a lot of variety with dog legs, straight holes, water, and even hedges (as the 2nd) blocking your way to a good score.

I'm definitely looking for a return trip here.

excellent value

Driving into Clandon Regis GC, there is a good feel about the place(did help, the weather was perfect) for a twilight round after 3PM - £20 green fee.

Now this course feels it does not play long, even the 150yrd markers feel closer, quite a few driver wedge shot holes, condition of the course was excellent(best greens ive played so far this year), again no spectacular holes but an enjoyable layout.

My only negative is when I asked the guy in the pro shop if it was busy, although it was quiet when we played he did say it was choca block in the morning which I could believe as they accept 2-1 vouchers!
