Sunbury Golf Centre

Another return to Sunbury. Not the longest course in the world, but you need to be careful to stay in play. As an example - the 6th is SI1, stay away from the left as it's an internal OOB, and stay away from the right as there is a large expanse of water! Watch where you put the ball or else you will find yourself in troubles.
I'd not say I would rush to play the course, but I'd not turn the chance of a game down.
Bacon roll was good, as was the 'frothy' coffee!

Friendly welcome and very relaxed.
Course and greens in excellent condition and will look forward to returning.

Sunbury Golf Centre is part of Crown Golf, it has the advantage to offer 2 courses : an 18 and a 9 holes.

I shall describe the 9 holes today. It offers is a fair challenge, particulary suited for Academy members, learners and anyone who does not have 4 hours+ to spare.

It has 6 Par 4s, and 3 Par 3s, dog leg, some slopes. water element as well, the greens are really, really nice, well cut and true.

For a Pay & Play, it is well kept and a very attactive option.

The Clubhouse is warm & friendly, the food nicely prepared & the coffee is excellent. It is housed in an old barn, not sure if it is original, but it could be as sometimes the Sunbury Golf Centre is referred to as "The Barn".

Excellent practice facilities, large driving range, s "Slopey" (the only one in the Country, I believe) to practice below/above feet, uphill/downhill shots at the turn of the round device (quite heavy, but manageable). Also practice sand bunkers. A putting green/chipping area in front of the outdoor terrace which is always sunny and has nice wooden furniture.

Friendly, well stocked Proshop and a number of excellent teaching Pros.

Large car park and a "wash your car whilst you play golf" service.

A very useful golf centre not too far from my home, with a strong membership due to what Crown Golf has to offer and Sunbury is always very innovative with new learning schemes encouraging anyone interesting in taking up golf: sometimes some free lessons, free play etc... look at the website.

To be honest after two weeks of not playing due to the snow you could have dumped me on an island, in the middle of the Atlantic, during a tropical storm, playing with cannibals eyeing up my ample build and this course would still get high marks.

Not a long course and only 2 par 5's but some surprisingly long par 4's. I think low handicappers may find Sunbury a tad easy but for me the forgiveness this course offers made it thoroughly enjoyable with enough challenges to get you thinking. Decent players could probably use a round here to practise those tricky shots knowing they would probably get away with it.

Decent enough practise facilities and club house was cosy and staff friendly.

As few courses are open at the moment I am playing there again tomorrow but this is a great little course and will be on my list of frequent courses to play.

I was surprised to see a very tidy and well kept course with rough that has been allowed to grow and add some bite to the course.I think the green staff have done a great job.

narrow fairways means you are dodging balls all the time, there were kids playing on course and unraked bunkers
