Frilford Heath Golf Club is a prestigious golfing venue located in Oxfordshire, offering three championship courses spread across 500 acres of heathland and parkland. Established in 1908, the club features the Red, Green, and Blue Courses, each with its own unique challenges. The Red Course, a par 72, is particularly well-regarded, with its long fairways and strategically placed bunkers demanding precision and strategy. The Green Course is a more traditional layout, while the Blue Course, also par 72, offers a more modern, open design.

The club is located near Abingdon and is easily accessible via the A34 and A420. Nearby attractions include the historic city of Oxford, known for its universities and architecture. Frilford Heath’s excellent facilities, including a welcoming clubhouse and top-tier practice areas, make it one of the premier golfing destinations in the region, drawing both members and visitors alike for its challenging courses and stunning setting.

Green Course

Please see my May12 review of FHGC as a whole. Yesterday, amongst downpours and monsoons I was fortunate to play in the Seniors Open (superb value at £45). My first outing on the Green Course, which is now firmly in my Top10 ever played. There are two 9 hole loops, although these are a mix of front/back 9s (confusing I know!). 1-4 and 14-18 are around the clubhouse and similar in appearance to the Blue and Red courses; 5-13 are slightly apart and absolutely beautiful. Everything in pristine condition - greens perfect. WOW!

A Superb Facility Overall - Blue Course

Frilford Heath, is one of the best golfing facilities in the country. It enjoys 54 holes of "Championship" standard (a distinction shared with only Wentworth and Woburn in England), and whilst it does not have quite the majesty of these two complexes it is still very impressive. I played the Blue Course today in one of the Trilby Tour Pre Championship Qualifier events. Despite being unavoidably wet in places due to heavy rainfall of late the course was beautifully conditioned - lush fairways, great bunkering and amazingly conditioned greens. I have rated the course itself a "4" as I felt that in design/scenic terms it was slightly lacking in a "wow factor" nevertheless I would happily play again and look forward to also trying out the Red and Green courses before too long. Fabulous clubhouse and practice areas. Day tickets at £85 or £55 after 1.00 are excellent value .
