Now called Oxford Golf Club

Highly recommended. Superb greens and excellent layout. Varied challenges on each hole, generous yet undulating fairways and empty on the Monday we played :-) . The greens had tiers and cambers to read and negotiate but the pace was consistent throughout our round and the roll smooth and true. The surrounds were very well kept with fluffy aprons to encourage chipping and quite severe run offs should you miss the dance floor.

£25 from teeoffonline.co.uk and well worth the 2 hour drive.

Clubhouse food was good and service was prompt. Pro shop very welcoming and accommodating, lending a driver without charge to my colleague who had left his at home... Duh!!

Fantastic course

First off I should say that Southfield GC is now Oxford GC, and despite the fact that you're almost in the centre of Oxford, it certainly doesn't feel like it.

You get to the first tee, look at what's ahead of you, and think it could be a good course. It's not, it's way better than that.

Favourite holes? The 3rd, 11th, 12th, and 13th could all stake a claim to that, but really you should just go there and enjoy all 18.

It's not an easy course, but it's generally playable. Maybe the par 3 12th is one to be feared though.

Downsides? The light rough was a little mean, but maybe that was due to the club championship being played the day I played there.

Quick tip, there's a small bush to the right (usually) of the fairways which marks 150yds to the centre of the green.
