Pinheiros Altos, set within the well-known Quinta do Lago estate on the rising land behind San Lorenzo, was designed by Ronald Fream in 1992 to take full advantage of the undualting terrain to create a golf course full of variety.
Originally an 18 hole course there are now 3 loops of nine holes -Oliveiras (Olives), Pinheiros (Pines) and Sobreiros (Corks).Pinheirosis set out over hilly ground covered in pine forest, Oliveiras is set along thebanks of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve and Sobrieros is set along lower ground towards the coast.
The course is renown for having extremely well placed hazards (both natural and man-made) to ensure the course offersa mental challenge.
