Great value and great views

Good sized car park situated directly next to the club house. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn't venture too much inside, so didn't see the changing rooms, but the bar and restaurant looked nice. There's no pro shop really to speak of, only a few key items by the reception. Trolleys and carts available to hire.

Downside, there are nearly no practice facilities, just one small, very undulated putting green just below the 1st tee.

The course itself is quite pleasant offering a bit of variety. First 6 holes are very up and down (with great views!) and somewhat challenging, with the following 12 being flat and open with water winding through although not too much of a concern if played tactfully. Greens were OK, but varied in speed due to differing grass length and patchiness. Also, the old hole and cup was left in place rather than filled in with the plug after the hole was moved which was odd.

Overall, great value for money course to visit, offering a challenge to most golfers.

Where are the trees?

Have played this course over the last six years around 4/5 times a year. It is reasonable test of your fitness on the first six as you climb to the top of the hill, come down, then go back up before descending to the 7th. From the 7th it is pretty much flat, but that does not mean boring. There is a fair test of your game with ditches to avoid, a river that meanders through three holes and is the boundary on one hole.

As a cheap and cheerful course, you would be hard pressed to find many in the area that can beat it. We will return again this summer, despite the niggle detailed below. For anyone wanting to try this course, I think you'd be daft to miss it.

Until last year there was a spine of poplars dividing the course, but sadly the mad woodchopper has visited and taken away a huge chunk of character - it has removed the depth on a couple of holes and left a void in the centre of the twelve lower holes.
