Great links course and not far from the garden of england

Played with Duane who is the member and Steve H, really liked the course, tight on some holes and not easy to find your ball too... met an old mate who is the marshall and he said "keep it on the fairway" he wasnt wrong.
Clubhouse was great friendly staff, and id definitely venture north again to play at this great links course. Some of the greens had more twists than Chubby Checker

Nice Course

After the rain we had this week. Course did play ok. Most fairways did have laying water. So lost yardage with the drives off the tee. Some greens where wet and some dry. Will definitely return as I do like the lay out of the course. Staff friendly too.

An absolute gem.

Well, would you really expect to find a LINKS course in Essex, near Rainham - yes, the Thames is close, but a links?
Yes, a links course most emphatically, and a damned enjoyable one as well. And cannot be that bad as we saw lady members out playing.

OK, it does look a little uninspiring on arrival, but they are still spending money on it, increasing the bricked carparking area, adding a third 9. But the clubhouse is no more than 6 years old and in excellent condition (it is a gym as well).

We arrived and before teeing off (wimping out of the squall that was blowing through) we had tea and coffee in the bar upstairs. Tea, coffee and a bacon roll just £8. Reception is very welcoming and were happy to reset our tee time by 20 minutes. That is the thing with this club, they are a private entity and members are gym and golf members. Just look at booking a round and you will be forgiven for thinking there must be something wrong when you see the number of available tee times.

So, off we trot to the starter, and he was very helpful and chatty. He warned us that you need to stay 'online' or your ball count is liable to rise. That would be because of the rough and gorse that litters the sides of most fairways.

The whole course is being cared for (maybe a small problem with some sprinklers, but that is nit-picking). Neither the tee boxes or fairways were 'fluffy' and the greens run true. One bunker found in our game was a little solid, but that seems to be the problem on most courses at present (am told that there is a shortage of bunker sand!?!?). A few of the greens look uncared for, but they are not, I think it is just the grass patterns. As well as running true, they are quite quick. Also, they are not all flat as billiard tables with plenty of undulations. And the slope you think is there, is probably from the other direction.

There will be no hesitation in returning to this gem of a golf course, and if Ahern Waste Management keep looking after it the way they are, many more people will find this gem.

Essex gem of a course, great links course

First time I have played, started at reception and a big hello from 2 lovely ladies, Tina and Jade. Wonderful welcome, lovely hospitality. Went to 1st to be greeted by Peter, one of the wardens, helpful, polite.

Enjoyed the whole course, great greens, lovely condition, and a great challenge. Your n great shape in the middle of the fairways, don’t be silly in the light rough, very playable from it. Any further into the fest/rough you have lost your ball, take a few extra balls.

I will play this course every year without hesitation.

9/10 from me.

Very Tough Links Course

Ingrebourne Links is a private club, I played today as a non paying guest of a member, so as I have not paid I will make no comment re value for money. However I will say the facilities are excellent, staff welcoming & helpful.
The clubhouse, bar & cafe are very nice.
The Course itself is an 18 hole links course, open & windy with low shrubs along the fairways which are very well kept as are the greens. fairways are undulating & many holes are doglegs etc. accuracy is vital to avoid the thick rough along the edges of the fairways.
As a relative beginner & my first links course I was more than happy with my score of 123.
I plan to visit the 9 hole par 3, open to non members in the near future.
