Great condition

Never played this course before today and enjoyed it very much. There is a driving range also a net to practice in plus the putting green. The owners are spending a lot of money on the course by filling in bunkers and creating new one so there are a number of ground under repair parts to avoid.all in all this will improve the course and make it one that you have to plot your way round with more care. Also must say the club house and the outside eating and drinks area is very pleasant.

Revisited

Have not played Mill Green for at least 10 years, and it does not disappoint! They have switched the nines around - start on what used to be the 10th. Added a little extra water (stagnant though!) on the 7th. There are a few more and a few less bunkers.

The course is in very good condition - you can see money is being spent on it (gone are the penny pinching days of Crown). There are a few new bunkers around the course and a goodly number that are decommissioned. Nice to see that the bunkers are getting a sub base of crushed foam then overlaid with (very) fine sand. When they have finished the bunker updating, this course will be a cracker.
The greens are running fast and true. Tee boxes are in relatively good condition - a little lacking in water, but that is another job that appears to be in hand. Good to see someone out in a buggy selling cold drinks in the hot weather. And it was good to get an apology that it took us 4hr 15 for a round - because of the members comp off earlier. We played quite comfortably on our round and only got caught on the 18th - even then we were sat getting drinks before those folks walked past.

All in all a good day out at a well run club. Will probably post more games here.

Good Value for money

Long time since i'd played here and they have changed the Tee's. Hole 1 is now the old 10th. works well as you play 18th into club house. Course is in great shape but at the moment the bunkers are GUR as they are doing a lot of work on them. Good value for moneyat present

Variety and challenge

Now playing off what was once the 10th, across the access road to a mature parkland, each hole with something to challenge. The other 9 are set in a relatively immature parkland. Both loops full of hazards, lots of well place water, a good walking course but be aware of elevation changes. Despite the ongoing maintenance a good test. Bunkers were gur at this time. Greens slick and true, approaches hard and fast. Not at all crowded.

Well established clubhouse, with welcoming staff, lots of parking available.

The practice green was a true reflection of greens on course.

Value for money, definitely.

Interesting Course In Places !!

I visited Mill Green GC yesterday, on a lovely sunny afternoon, for the first time and found it to be quite interesting in places, although quite a few of the front nine holes were either doglegs or blind holes and fairly open. Once you cross the road, the back nine became a lot more interesting and challenging with water and tree lined fairways. The uphill par 3 15th was a very nice hole surrounded by trees, it gave that nice echo when the ball came off the club. The course was fairly flat, which made a nice change, not having to struggle up hills in the wintry weather. Clubhouse was fresh and clean and the service came with a smile throughout. Well worth a visit, especially with discounted rates for TSG Members as it's a Crown course !!

Well worth playing

Mill Green golf course was very nicely laid out front 9 quite short and fairly open you can score well if you keep the ball straight the rough is quite difficult so stay out, the back 9 totally different very mature parkland it seems like 2 different course this is more difficult water and bunkers in play that will destroy you all in all a great course

Nice Course

Don't want to be critical of this course as it is a nice course. Holes 15, 16 & 17 are fantastic but the rest of the course is just ok. Clubhouse is very very nice and the staff/pro are very friendly. Wouldn't pay the full green fee to play here, very expensive for what it is. Wouldn't put anyone off going there just not sure I'll be rushing back.

Very Pleasant....

I'd been meaning to play here for a while and was pleased I got around to it - its a good course! Two contrasting nines make for a good mix - the first 9 being farily open but the fairways start to close in on you after the turn, as you enter more parkland terrain. The greens were in great condition and on a 2for1 openfairways, I thought £17 was great value! Pro shop staff were a little aloof but the food at the bar was great! Will go back.....
