Short but challenging

Huntly golf course is just on the edge of the town and has a friendly club house. The course is short but with two rivers running through it quite challenging. The course is well kept although the tees could be a bit flatter.

Mill Ride Golf Club

A beautiful and well kept course just outside Ascot, Mill Ride is a challenging and makes you think. There are long par 3's and par 5's and lots of water. It's a course that makes you think and punishes you if you get it wrong.

I was extremely fortunate to play this course on a Corporate day, so I don't know what the green fee is.

Thoroughly recommended.

Banbury Golf Club

Th green fee of £15.00 for 18 holes was very good value all in all. There were no practice facilities that I could see, but the club house was welcoming and is reputed to server very good food.

The course is challenging, even if there was not much difference between the fairwasy and the light rough (what do you expect for £15.00)

Southwood Golf Club

Southwood is just outside Farnborough Airport in Hampshire. It is a reasonably short course. There are limited practice facilities (one net and a putting green).

The course was in ok condition, the tee boxes were not always mown. The greens were variable in speed and the grass was quite long on them.

Twilight is described as 3 ours before sunst so a tee off time at 5pm was the full £19.00 - which is very expensive compared to £16.00 at the much nicer Pine Ridge only 4 miles away.

Hurtmore Golf Club

Situated just off the A3 (literally, some of the holes are pretty close to the road), this is a short but tight and demanding course. It was well kept and in good condition when played on 27th June. The greens were in good order and ran true. The clubhouse is friendly and there is a deal for including a meal in with the green fee. We paid £24.00 for a round plua a one-course lunch.

Pine Ridge

Pine Ridge used to be privately owned by last year was bought by Crown Golf. Sadly they have done nothing to brighten up the clubhouse or renovate the changing rooms, but fortunately have continued to look after the course.

Pine Ridge is a very popular course and is regarded as being " quite easy" with few chances to lose many balls. The back 9 is more interesting than the front 9 but it's still a nice course that attracts a good number of players every day.
