As a beginner I found Bromley to be an interesting course, challenging with long fairways and plenty of chances to find hazards or heavy rough. At the other 9 hole courses I've tried, the majority of holes can be reached with a high iron. At Bromley I needed drivers off most tees with a couple of good long shots required to reach the green on several of the holes. I lack experience to know, but this felt more look a full course than other 9's I've played. The fairways seemed quite tight in places with waywood drives being easily sent into trouble. There are some interesting holes requiring a bit of thought about where you are going to (try!) to put the ball to avoid trouble or make a better approach to the green.

The course seems in generally good condition, especially given the amount of rain we've had recently and was mostly dry with only the odd boggy and muddy areas off the fairways and at the choke points between holes and a couple of bunkers that had become waterlogged. There were quite a lot of un-repaired divots and marks around the course although the greens were generally reasonably clear.

Facilities looked very basic with a small shop and I think a cafe (although I didn't see it) but the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Overall I enjoyed this course and thought it was good value for money. For a beginner I think it poses quite a challenge and would therefore expect that mid-handicap players would also find it fun.
