Undergoing some changes

This was my first trip to Rivenhall after an invite from a TSG member, I had been told of major course works going on but that the course is very playable.
It's near Witham in Essex and I had a bit of difficulty finding it but I'll put that down to the Sat Nav having a wobble. On arrival it is evident due to some fairly hefty earth moving gear that it is major works and some of this has taken a chunk of the car park out so parking is a bit problematic but the club are accepting visitors parking on the grass in front of the club house. The single storey club house is comfortable, food is good and the members are welcoming.
Changing facilities are basic but adequate, there is a practice green (I didn't try) I can't comment on other practice areas because I'm afraid I didn't look for any.
Now to the course which I found in great condition fairly flat and open swith well kept greens a 9 hole course which has differing pars depending from which tee box you are playing from. So a shortish par 4 becomes s long par 3 second time around as do some of the 5's when they become 4's. Some tricky placed copse and water hazards make you think. I didn't know this course before the works started but evidence along 2 or 3 of the fairways has made it appear some holes tighter but this only makes it more of a challenge.
The greens ran very true and were consistent - not too much borrow on many. All in this is a great entertaining course where you can be bold and have a go on many holes and not be punished too severely.Favourite hole the 8th tricky par four over water first time round - long par 3 next time entertaining. Worth a visit and only £15 members guest rates

Nice course quite tight on back 9

First time here - pro shop was very welcoming and the course was very quiet - but I think this is mainly a members club as the visitors fees can be expensive in the summer but for today it was £27.
I feel that's a little expensive for this course but the green keepers were abundant looking after the course and obviously a great deal of effort is made to keep it up to scratch.
The greens had been treated early in the morning with some very small hollow tining so were a touch slow and bumpy - the pro apologised for this.
The club house is pleasant with a large bar and restaurant with an old school feel. Large practice putting green a chipping green and a few nets to practice with a large bowling green within the grounds and a cricket club next door.
There is a bit of a trek between the first hole and the 2,3,4 and fifth which is a separate part of the course divided by a road, some tight fairways on the way back in and a great par 3 over water for the 16th - overall worth a revisit.

Great Course

First time I have played this course and its the worst score I think have ever carded - however I really enjoyed the experience because the course is immaculately kept and the tees and greens are fantastic.
I found this a very tight course and course management is paramount - i'm beginning to learn this.
Look forward to playing here again although a bit pricey at £30 a pop

Second time out

Second time out with TSG and for this course also - I played it I'm guessing about ten years ago and i'm pretty pleased with it as its a great public course with a great variety of holes of all pars. Greens a re in great condition and the fairways are acceptable - all in all a reasonable course for a cheaper price

Well manicured course well looked after

South Herts is a very well kept course both greens and fairways - not too much trouble and only water if I remember on one hole - the first. Lots of sand traps however to catch the unwary but all in all a very pleasant course for all and not too expensive if guesting with a member.
