Have been wanting to play this course for years and although expensive have been past it and promised my self I would one day . The course is absolutely immaculate but as is has been a members club for 125 years it’s not surprising.It is the creation of Willy park jr and it’s the only course he designed and raised his own funds to pay for .Along with Sunningdale old course. The greens were like glass even in late October .Also there are only 13 sand bunkers and all the rest are strategically played grass bunkers and pots on the course which is basically unchanged from 1901 .The course is ranked 57 in England Scotland and wales out of 2788 and it shows The tee boxes are probably as good as most greens .Ian Fleming was a member for 32 years and also members of M16 .It is widely thought as the best inland links type course in uk .The greens are absolutely extreme with many level changes of up to 4 feet and all different and are designed as hazards .If you get a chance it’s worth playing but is a 2 ball only course .

The greens are fast and in near perfect condition at time of playing very difficult to read .Bunkers in brilliant condition.Fairways easy to hit of and almost spongy this is in june .The course is varied with a contrast of holes and parts very hilly on front 9.The views on the course are nice over the valley.Built in 1904 and lots of the original heathland workings still evident .
The tee boxes are better than most greens .....overall this makes the cost worth it .

Visited on 4th November and although starting to get a little muddy the greens were outstanding and quite fast . A good mix of holes and hilly in places .t boxes all flat and well maintained course overall .

Played early October - nice parkland course with generous fairways .The greens,for this time of year, played really true and were in nice condition.It borders the zoo on some holes and has some spectacular views over the downs .We did spot a wallaby on the course on one hole .The clubhouse and staff were friendly. If you get an offer tee price it's £30 which isn't bad.On the front 3 or 4 holes the fairways were a bit muddy but most fairways were ok and considering the rain from that week it was better than expected. Plenty of doggleg fairways. It can be a bit windy,as it's right on top of the downs. I would play again in the summer. Overall, a nice course with added wildlife bonus.
