Played on 9th September 2013. We had the odd shower, but the course was really well looked after. The greens were very good and also very tricky. You could easily lose shots with your putts as the greens have well designed undulations. The bunkers were perfect with good layers of sand. I think they have really good ground staff on this course, as you could see, they took pride in looking after it. The course was just outside Cambridge and it was a really nice find. Quite testing in places. If you are ever in the area, give it a go. It's a little gem of a find.
Played over 2 days - the tees were not in great condition and the fairways were really hard. The greens were fluffy but very true and fast. When the wind picks up, the course is hard to play.
Birdies are very possible as some par fours just over 300 yards. Great views on part of the back 9 and the green by the lake is on a slope hit the green and watch the ball roll about 10 foot down the green, can lose quite a few shots on this green.
The hotel was good - food great - staff very friendly and a good price. overall £80 for 2 days golf and hotel with breakfast and evening meal. Easy to get to from M1, just past Northampton. I would say it is a real test of a course and you should enjoy it.
What a course, just on the outskirts of London, but once on the course you would think you were in the middle of nowhere. It is a testing course and on the day I played in May, it was in fantastic condition. The course undulates up and down and is quite a testing walk, the fairways were cut like wembley and the greens were great. Whoever looks after this course should be given a gold medal. The sand in the bunkers was clean and stone free with a good layer of top white sand. Some of the tees are in a fantastic position. For a public course, this in my view is as good as any private run course I have played. Great day out! These are only my views, I hope you get to play it and feel the same.
Nice course and great company made the day a worthwhile one. The course is quite open and not a lot of water hazards. Some tricky holes, especially the par 3 Willow pond, only 116 from the yellow tee, but quite a test for a short hole. The course was in good condition when we played on 28-3-2011. The price was good and the staff seemed nice.
Nice course, good value for money the day we played
The course was tricky as quite a lot of trees, also some of the holes are up and beyond slopes. I think you need to play this one a couple of times to know where things are as some holes are quite testing. The rough was not too bad, cut mid level, so not too bad to get out of. No real water or ditch hazards. On the day, the greens were very good for time of year.
