No thanks

Well, having looked at the previous reviews, there was some good to look forward to and a lot not to be looking for.

Well, in a nutshell:
The clubhouse is very tired.
The course is poorly looked after.
Bunkers unraked (apparently used as a fox playground in many).
Fairways almost the same length as the semi.
Greens, possibly the best part of the course.
Tees are scruffy.
Staff in the clubhouse are friendly, but NO hot food ALL weekend.

Would I return? No, there are a lot of other courses that have a lot better facilities and don't call it a 'Championship Course'

Great layout....

Played here on a cool summers' day and thoroughly enjoyed the course!

Nestled in Surrey Downs in South London, the clubhouse is traditional (if not a little scruffy in places), however, all the staff were friendly and welcoming.

The course is parkland in terrain and the layout is a mixture of sloping Par 4's and tight Par 3's.

It had been suggested that Addington Court was a little tired but on the contrary, I think this course is a great challenge and whilst not overly long, you can be caught out be well-positioned bunkers and sloping greens.

It could be argued that the fairways need some TLC but considering this was August, I would expect some browning of the short stuff.

In short, I really enjoyed the course and I think the venue will make for a great TSG Matchplay final, as the course can be played either sensibly or aggressively.

The choice is yours...

I will definitely be playing the course again!

Wouldn't rush back!

Fairly easy short course, greens were terrible but it was after the beast from the east! For a pay & play it's OK.

Very Scenic

This wasn't a great start. I'd bought a 7am tee time online, their website said the course was open from 7am, and when I got there I found out that they don't open until 7.30. The guy in the shop apologised, which was appreciated, but you kinda think that someone needs to be making sure the details don't get forgotten.

There are two 18 holes courses here, the Falconwood and the Championship, and neither are especially long (both are under 5300 yds from the yellows). There are a few climbs though, so consider a buggie if you aren't a fan of hills.

The Falconwood is the cheaper course, and it certainly feels like that when you play both on the same day. The fairways are wide, the greens are small, but the condition is far better than a lot of reviews I'd seen had suggested. The bunkers aren't great and some are GUR, but you have the option to just not go in them :)

The Championship course just feels a lot nicer. The fairways are still pretty generous, and the greens are both larger and in very good condition. The bunkers looked a lot better too, although I didn't get to experience any of them first hand (yay!).

Both courses are very scenic, and both have great layouts and some pretty holes. If I lived closer then I'd certainly be playing here more often.

Not a great course but ok value for money.

Uneven tees, slow play and very unpredictable greens. Fairly open course but the course played well considering the rain which we have had recently. I probably would not return in a hurry.

A walk in a park

The clubhouse is very basic and the staff very helpful and friendly.

The ladies changing room was surprisingly inhospitable. The area where there are lockers, hairdryers, sockets and towels is behind a padlocked wrought iron gate. I naturally presumed someone from the bar would unlock this for guests, but was told keys were only held by the lady members. Therefore I had to change in a tiny area next to the ladies and there was nowhere to lock anything, so I had to leave my valuables in the car which was not desirable.

My disappointment was pushed to one side upon receipt of one of the best value breakfasts I have had - way too much for most of us!

The course was very muddy and there are a lot of par 3's so you should be able to plot your way to a bandit score. I couldn't hit a ball, but it didn't stop me enjoying the fresh air, views and the company.

Not a golf course I would rush to play again.

falconwood

Not as easy as it looks with uneven tee boxes, sloping fairways + plenty of worm casts and lack of sand in bunkers !!
This course also tends to be always "windy"

Decent little course, needs a bit of TLC

Usual pay and play gripes (bunkers more stones than sand, greens a bit tatty but mostly ran true). But most holes are quite interesting, not an overly long course but is not hugely open.

Good value deal

Could not complain at the deal we got, the roast pork lunch was very good, pity the same could not be said about the course though. Greens were very patchy and a lot were very soft and spongey from retaining the recent rain. Very worn out tee boxes and off some mats. On the plus side the bunkers looked like they had decent sand (only went in one) and fairways were OK. Short course better suited to beginners.

Great Value for Money

Cart and 18 holes for £22.50 each (includign 2 for 1 voucher mid week at 12 tee off.

Greens in ok condition and some interesting holes on the course. A decent challenge but not particularly long. Great for starters, to just boost your confidence, or practise your short game.

Addington,, I'd play there again

Played addington today, If you putt well and can read the breaks on these greens, you will score low in my opinion. It's not a long course by any means, but the greens are a decent speed but flat they are not. They roll very nicely indeed. If the greens at Stapleford Abbotts played this well at the moment, I would be a very happy man indeed. Staff were very friendly and I had good company on the course. One word of warning sort of, If you tire pulling a trolley up a hill, make sure you bring a battery assisted trolley, trust me! I forgot to charge the battery to my cost on one hole especially. The course is tree lined alot, but the areas are reasonably wide, cut a few corners and get it wrong, and the course will bite you. A 7 on the par 4 stroke index 1 proved that to me. I doubt I would want to join the club and play it all the time, but i will definately be back again.

Pleasantly Surprised!

A Crown club. Enjoyed my first visit here. The course is relatively short but the regular changes in elevation make it an interesting challenge. The fairways were rather dry and patchy but the greens were EXCELLENT. Clubhouse and locker room very basic - very good coffee.

Addington Court Average

A pleasant course albeit a little bland.
The greens had quite a few tricky reads.
Greens & tees need a lot of attention.

What a change

Well i have been here twice this year and on both dates, the course was fine, but sadly today was and is my last visit for the year. The fairways are fine, greens are in such a bad state i couldn't believe it unless i didn't see it for myself and the bunkers well, more like stone holes and are so hard or with water in them and of course full of stones( where was the sand ). I have to admit SUNBURY GOLF COURSE is about 10 times better which is a shame. SACK SOMEONE, I WOULD WITH THE GREEN KEEPERS.
