About me: I have the time and inclination to play golf but not the partners! I was introduced to this site at the London Golf Show and decided to give it a shot. I'm a sociable person and love to play golf (good or bad).

Great testing course

Steep hills and many blind shots make the course a very difficult one for first timers here as the signage is not great, but the course was in superb condition. Challenging but enjoyable. Very friendly and helpful members. Overall great experience and excellent value for money. Our green fee through teeofftimes was £17 --- bargain!

Just good for a practice round

Parkland course -- ostensibly a 9 hole course -- you have to go around again to mak it 18 (same tees, so you should have a better score on the second 9!). In summer it can be very busy so avoid weekends. Course generally in good condition, but poor behaviour at this pay and play ex-municipal course leaves a lot to be desired (divots not replaced etc). Nice course to hone your game, treat it as a practice round. Staff friendly and pleasant, fairly good practice area and cafe with light menu also available should you need it.

Great course

Hennerton Golf Club is a little off the beaten track just outside Wargrave in Berkshire. We were lucky to play in warm sunshine (in October!) and were awarded with some beautiful views. Fairways and greens were in superb condition, as were the bunkers. Friendly club and very good value (through TeeOfftimes, but worth giving the club a call) for what is a relatively short course. I lived nearer, I'd want to join!

interesting course, loved it.

Good course management is important if you want to get around safely. A lot of slopes to contend with so stamina needed for the first 12 holes. Well maintained, but some greens were inconsistent on the day I played. I would gladly play there as often as possible. They also operate a loyalty system for visitors, so you get a free round after 5 (I believe) if you book directly with the pro shop. At £20 for a round, this was superb value. Very friendly staff and members made us feel very welcome.

Love this course.

Always in wonderful condition -- the greens are very consistent and play very true. It's a short course but good course management is rewarded well. In winter the course drains well naturally so you'll find it open when other courses are closed. I highly recommend it.

Superb views across the South Downs

Cowdray Park is a beautiful course set in wonderful countryside. There are a lot of blind shots, so familiarity with the course (or playing with someone familiar with it) would be an advantage. The course was in excellent condition on the day with greens running true if a little inconsistent. All in all a fantastic day out. The clubhouse has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The half-way hut made the game even more enjoyable. Super day's golf made better due to the fantastic deal we had -- thanks Brigitte!

Just good for a practice round

It's a short but fun course with no par 5 holes. The condition of the course has improved in the past year, and the greens are a lot better than they used to be, but don't expect any luxuries like waste bins, ball washers or rakes in bunkers. Because it's set on public land there are often members of the public and dog walkers wandering about totally unaware of the danger of flying golf balls which can be quite disruptive to your game. I once had to ask a lady to move her picnic blanket away from the front of the green on the par 3 7th (we were waiting to tee off). There are also golfers who just walk onto the course for free (no marshals on the course, and when I mention this to the staff they just shrug their shoulders, and I don't blame them -- it's a dodgy area). There was a time when you'd be offered illegal drugs by passing dealers, but thankfully I haven't seen any lately. There are often locals hanging around tees and talking loudly, so if you're the type that likes a quiet tee, avoid weekends! I only play here as a last resort and book through teeofftimes, because the regular weekend green fee is crazy in my opinion. There is no dress code or golf course etiquette in evidence, but keep an open mind and try it for yourself. The staff are very friendly, and helpful - clearly doing their best. I brought all this to the attention of the company when they first took over the management a couple of years back.

Excellent course

You cannot help to be inpressed by the long driveway through exquisite parkland - matched by the parking facilities which are are good and ample. The staff i the pro shop were very good and attentive and I was so taken with it the place that I signed up for a 30 day membership for £99 -- allows 7 day membership at all Crown Golf venues.
The course itself gives one the feel of a mixture of parkland and links holes - potentially better the second time around unless you're playing with anyone familiar with the layout (needs local knowledge on some of the longer holes). Fairways and greens in great condition, although some of the bunkers need more sand. The course is free draining which makes it almost entirely weatherproof.
