Highly recommended. Superb greens and excellent layout. Varied challenges on each hole, generous yet undulating fairways and empty on the Monday we played :-) . The greens had tiers and cambers to read and negotiate but the pace was consistent throughout our round and the roll smooth and true. The surrounds were very well kept with fluffy aprons to encourage chipping and quite severe run offs should you miss the dance floor.
£25 from teeoffonline.co.uk and well worth the 2 hour drive.
Clubhouse food was good and service was prompt. Pro shop very welcoming and accommodating, lending a driver without charge to my colleague who had left his at home... Duh!!
Fantastic course. One of the best I've played...Sheer class from clubhouse to practice facilities to immaculate course conditions. Every hole is testing with much variety but not overly penal.
I played the WEST course with a member for only £25. Not sure what a TSG rate is but you will not be disappointed if you get a chance to play it.
Very undulating landscape with superb fairways, awesome greens and decent sand in the bunkers. The landing areas are very generous which makes the experience fun.
The EAST is definitely on my agenda for a return visit.
:-)
Having played the East course which was rather featureless and very long, I found the West to be more interesting, challenging and fun.
The greens were vey patchy with moss and different grasses giving a mottled appearance which made them difficult to read but played well.
All greens had tiers and mounds to negotiate and the fairways had generous landing areas.
The rooms were excellent and the buffet style food selection in the evening was good.
East Sussex National is a tremendous clubhouse with panoramic views and spacious lounges and bar areas.
The practice facilities were good with pitching, chipping and putting areas along with a small driving range (10 bays or so...).
Worth a visit but better in the summer months I suspect.
Awesome course in superb condition. Each hole was different, presenting challenges but all were really aesthetic to the eye. The views were fantastic and all the greens had tiers to negotiate to help focus the putting mind.
I will look forward to a return visit next season.
The pro shop were helpful and welcoming and the short game area was great for warm up pitching.
This is my home club and both courses present a tough challenge. The fairways were like carpets and the greens very true. Good sand in bunkers and whilst tight and tree-lined, much of the bushes and rough has been cut down to speed up play and not all errant shots were punished with lost balls as was the case last season. The food is always excellent and you will not find a warmer 19th hole anywhere. The clubhouse is bright and spacious with terraced areas overlooking both 18th holes to get refreshed.
Changing facilities are plush and the Pro shop very friendly.
There is an excellent driving range and three practice putting greens.
Fantastic experience, Highly recommended. Will definitely return :-)
The greens were excellent. Very slick as were the practice putting greens.
Free balls on the range was a nice touch. Shop and bar very welcoming too. Great views from the clubhouse. The only 2 gripes were the inadequate signage on the International course and no distance markers to help speed up the pace of play.
