Well worth a visit

Lovely mature parkland layout, warm up is available in a couple of nets or a range by the first tee and a large putting green. The overall course is in good condition with teeing area better than some greens I have seen, the greens were fast and true with some obvious slopes and some subtle. The fairways were a little bare in places owing to the lack of rain recently, there are a few holes with blind doglegs requiring placement rather than distance, and a few trees and hedges to catch the wild shots. Overall a fair course. I was playing a match representing my club against Romford hence the green fee was gratis so can't comment on pricing. Clubhouse hospitality was first class nice comfy leather chairs, in the James Braid room, and great food.

Lovely coastal course

The first is a fairly open straight par four but then the fun begins, cracking sea views from high above the cliffs, a par three that appears to be driving straight into the sea, the fifth has to carry across the cliff edge. lovely rolling links turf, The greens were slower than I'm used to (Orsett) but rolled true enough. The members and staff could not have been more welcoming fitting me between their 36 hole comp. didn't use the practice facilities but the club house and rooftop bar were excellent and the club dog was very friendly. Especially great value with my county card discount

Hidden gem

What a lovely little course. I had overlooked this as its not a full length course, but it really is worth a visit, it has a 9 hole main course with reasonable length par 4s one par 5 and a couple of nice par 3s set in tree lined rolling land. The 7th and 8th are cracking holes that would be welcomed on any course.
It also has a 9 hole Badgers par 3 course that really is worth the trip on its own, every hole is iset in its own land with elevated tees ponds and some tight tree lined fairways. The greens may not be sunningdale standard but are reasonable but a bit slower than the norm. But for £13 for a day ticket is very good value and lovely food and ice cold beer afterwards

Cracking Layout

Lovely inland links style course, beautiful rolling fairways leading to fast greens that have elephants buried under them, the mounds and hollows on the greens take some getting used to but the ball rolls true, just need to know where to place your approaches for best scoring. Plenty of elevation changes and doglegs needing careful course management rather than just bombing driver. Has a flock of sheep roaming the fairways to keep the grass down. All staff and members were very welcoming, has a large range and practice greens chipping area. Well worth a visit if your in the area unfortunately no tee off deals but worth the £30 visitor fees

Lovely course

Great course large flat tee areas lovely smooth true greens, very friendly staff from the pro shop to the bar & restraunt, only let down was the bare dry patches on the fairways which sadly were too frequent, but it has been very dry recently

Stunning must play

Absolutely fantastic course designed by Dr Alister Mackenzie, designer of Augusta national, well manicured rolling fairways leading to superb smooth fast undulating greens, the natural hills have been well used with raised tees to greens 40 feet below you, if you misread a putt it can roll back past your feet. It's not long but don't be fooled a par is well earned here, only let down is some of thre daily tees are in separate locations to the white/reds look out for a hot deal I payed £16 to play this gem

Fantastic course. If your in Cornwall don't miss it

What a fantastic course. Undulating layout. Every hole is different, not long but slopes and grass hollows around the greens make it very interesting, beautiful fairways and surrounding scenery, large but tricky greens all in superb condition apart from the 2nd which has just been relayed but there are signs advising this, its was still in better condition than some I've played, would have give 5 stars but the buggy we were given looked fit for the breakers covered in green mould and we had to clean the seats before use. But it worked ok, yes I normally walk but I was away on holiday with no trolley and it is very hilly constantly up and down. Would advise a buggy

Cracking layout

Lovely tree lined course,. Some cracking holes, a few unusual crossovers where you tee off over the green you have just played. But the greens were very poor had some bare patches all over we got a post 1pm deal which finishes at the end of the month. I love the layout but for £40 I'd go elsewhere until the greens come back

Lovely inland links

Lovely inland links style course. 1st class greens receptive smooth and fast plenty of 3 putts if you dont get the pace right the rough is a bit tough if your way off line Flat tee areas no bare patches very windy when i played its a bit open and no trees to give respite, friendly staff. Pro shop very helpful. Driving range. Practice area with chipping putting and bunkers. Give it a try. Well recomended

Playable but not memorable

Nice greens and generous fairways. Tees a bit hard and crowned, difficult to get a flat lie but worth a visit with a deal on tee off times £13. Not sure id pay £25. But my biggest gripe was the greenkeepers who followed me round at least 14 greens they were working on whilst i was playing the same hole they never switched the mowers off either

A little gem

It may be off most of our beaten tracks but well worth a visit if you're in Oxford, lovely condition with plenty of well placed bunkers, I found most of them, fairly easy walking not to hilly but enough change to make it interesting, could do with a few more next tee signs at cross overs, nearly played two holes twice and only £12 on Monday and Thursday

Great course, Lovely views

Excellent course. Needs good course management rather than wack it and hope, very good condition with smooth fast greens and undulating fairways, beautiful views over audley end and beyond, all staff very helpful pro shop and bar, a touch expensive but a 2 for 1 deal available on their website for 1st time visitors

Poor

The course promises so much, it has a pretty good layout with some interesting holes, but is in such poor condition with some of the worst greens I've played on the ball spends more time in the air than rolling, bare patches on the fairway at least one bunker completely devoid of sand and not marked GUR Sorry save your money avoid
