Great value / Terrible condition

Risebridge is a reasonable course, that always gives good value for money. The price this time was good with a sandwich thrown in. However. It had rained considerably overnight, but this course was in dreadful condition. Pools of water everywhere, very very wet and very muddy. Iron shots were a complete joke. But, the worst was the greens. Absolutley saturated. Putting was just hit and hope. I played not too far away the next day, with another night of rain in between. That wasn't good, but was vastly better than Risebridge. The course should have been closed. I have played on dry days and it's a reasonable course in reasonable condition. But at this time of year with rain ??? Well the sandwich was excellent, and the price ok.

OK course in poor condition

Woodbridge is a nice little course that needs a lot of care and attention. It's short with some quirky holes. The atmosphere in the clubhouse is nice and friendly. However. There are many many crafty bits to catch you out, like ditches etc. Unfortunatly some are blind and there is no course planner available. So unless you have played there a few times, you are unfairly punished. The par 4 4th has a ditch just off the back of the green. Totally unseen until you are on the green. The par 5 5th is steeply uphill to a marker post. However there is a ditch that cannot be seen from the tee right across the fairway !! The last is a VERY short par4 with a 90degree dogleg. However from the tee you can't see if it doglegs left or right !!!! However this fades to nothing when we come to the greens. The only word is SHOCKING. Bone dry, cracked and very very patchy. All in all this could be a nice little course, but it needs better signage, or planners and LOTS of work done.

Good course let down bad by members

This is an open shortish course, usually in good condition. It rained very heavily just before we teed off in March - and the course was fine, no standing water, and the surface was fair considering. However, the members need to learn a lesson in manners. A large group had a tee time booked for when it was raining. However they just waited in the Clubhouse, and then jumped onto the 1st Tee when it stopped, an hour after their tee time. Therefore anybody, including us, who had a tee time a bit later, couldn't get anywhere near the 1st Tee ??!! This had not been arranged with the pro shop or anything. Being a member does NOT mean you can just push aside anybody who isn't !!! Very poor advertisement for this otherwise nice club.

Reasonable for time of year.

Darenth Valley is a nice summer course. In winter it suffers a bit, but there are plenty worse. Mid Jan and the greens are ok-ish. No temp greens this time ( have had in the past) and all proper tees. Fairways were ok, bunkers ok. I like the clubhouse here. Pro shop is small ( and was changing stock, so nearly empty ) but the bar is nice and the food is very good. Definatly better in summer, but reasonable this time of year. They have extended the carpark that was too small, but the new bit is like walking on sticky clay. Still cleaning shoes, wheels etc weeks later. Hope that improves with time.

Not my favourite, but good winter course

Southern Valley is a course I am not very fond of. Its quite plain and featureless. However...it is a good winter course. It drains very well and when other are closed or boggy, Southern Valley will be fine. Inland Links so fairways undulate a lot, greens are fair and quick. Bunkers nice. Clubhouse is a disappointment - portacabins. It can have some good deals, so then its fair. Nice in winter, but it is boring really.

Not good. Cheap, but bad condition.

Played on a very cold day end of Jan. ALL holes had mats, not good mats either. Fairways were fair, as were greens. Bunkers had frozen water in them. Off fairways etc it was wet...VERY. This is a short ok course in summer, but bad in winter. Also now have a trolley hedgehog wheel only policy. They couldn't give a reasonable reason why in the clubhouse.

Good all year course

Pedham is a good all year round course. Played Jan 30th after heavy rain night before, and course was fine. Some wet patch's, but good. Others were closed. You MUST bring a good short game here. Described as 'Inland links', short tee to green, but the greens usually good condition, but tricky. Drop off and undulation galore. Putting difficult. All in all very nice, but short.

Good course 3 X nines.

Farleigh is 3 loops of nine holes, Blue, Red and Yellow. All have their merits. Played Yellow/Blue in Jan and in very good condition. Fairways, Tee's and Greens all open and all good. Personally I think the Blue is the best, but all are good. Practise facilities are good. Chipping greens, putting green, bunkers and an open air range. The clubhouse is lovely. Really nice. Helpful friendly staff as well. All in all a very nice place to play golf.

Nice course. Worth a visit.

Epsom is a short but interesting course. Played in Jan, and Fairways and Tee boxes were good ( although quite a few 'Mats' ). Some greens were excellent, some ok, but it is winter. Practise facilities are limited, especially the practise green, which does not prepare you for the wicked slopes on the course ones. It is a combination of tough holes, and some easy, so evens out. The high holes near the race course are exposed, and it was windy. There you can get battered, but not all around. All in all, very nice.
