Lovely, but for the greens

Great value @£20 for a Saturday, very pretty course. All they need to do is spend a few bob on the greens / bunkers and they could charge a lot more.

Hopefully will return at a later date and they will have sorted things out.

Better than I remembered...

Played Cheshunt today and found the course in good condition. First time here for about 6 years and the layout etc was better than I remembered.

Good value @£18. I believe its cheaper later in the day as well. Only downside was the two members infront who for the first nine holes played 2 balls each which is obviously out of order and delayed our game.

Will definately return, especially as its only 10 mins drive from work

Lovely course, great facilities

Played here yesterday on a Charity / Corporate Day

Nicely maintained, very open course, excellent greens given the recent weather.

Lovely modern clubhouse, excellent food.

Only problem, its 1.5hr drive from home :)

Interesting, well laid out course

Enjoyable round at this north London course.

Rolling hills make it a fair walk (lots using buggies). Condition was generally good, although tees could have done with a tidying and some of the previous players hadn't raked the bunkers. Greens were excellent considering how dry it has been.

Only trouble was a fourball of members that wouldn't let our twoball through despite several opportunities.

Thought £20 was just about right

Decent Challenge

Friendly welcome in the Pro-shop and good value @ £16.40 (booked online through www.teetimes.co.uk)

Course was very, very dry but greens in good condition considering.

Each hole made you think about your shots.

Would definately return.

Good Course, Great Value

Played Bushey Hall on Bank Holiday Monday, went through all 4 seasons during the round with sun, strong wind, rain & hailstones.

Course was in good nick and has plenty of different style holes providing a decent challenge.

Although website states £25 a round, we were only charged £15 making it extremely good value.

Thirty miles from home but I'd definately return

Tricky, hilly 9 holer

Very hilly and tricky nine holer

Course belongs to McMullens Brewery, from March 1st the members club closed and its become pay-and-play. They also plan to re-develop the clubhouse facilities and open a pitch & putt course alongside the main one.

Excellent greens, course has lovely views over the meads between Ware & Hertford (and the A10 viaduct!)

Friendly, helpful welcome in the club shop.

Will return sooon

Paid £20 for 18 holes.

Barkway Park

Just back from playing Barkway Park, north Herts

If you get the chance, give it a go

Its a long course,6609yds off the yellows, par 74

Quite open but possibly the best greens I've played on.

Its £18 a round in the week but a three or fourball can play for £36

It was also only £10 for the old fella as he's over 55

Surprisingly, had we been playing matchplay I'd have done him 6&4 as I played quite well, putting far better than recently, and finished with a satisfactory 35 points

Good beer & sausage sandwich in the pub down the road afterwards as well

All in all well worth taking a day off

Essex Golf & Country Club

Played here yesterday in a 3 ball.

I'm currently off 23 and my two partners are 8 & 28 respectively

We all enjoyed a well thought out course on the site of an old military airfield. In fact, there is still a landing strip for light aircraft running alongside the course.

Water plays a major role on this one, with 12 different lakes coming in to play on holes 1,5,6,7,9,10,12,13,14 & 18.

The tee boxes and fairways were in very good condition, there's some harsh rough as well so its best to be as straight as possible.

The greens were excellent with a good consistant roll.

Special mention to the starter who was very friendly and gave lots of useful advice on how to play the first, not that it helped me (scored an 8!!)

For a Sunday it wasn't too busy just a couple of minor hold ups at the par 3's on the back nine

We paid £31 each, plus £3 for a yardage chart which as first time visitors was pretty essential

Overall, definately one I would return to, well worth an hours drive
