Interesting course, few long par 4's a good test but some greens, fairways and tee boxes in poor condition .
A pay and play course, which the day we played, had a special at £20 which was good value.
Will certainly keep it on our rota and hopefully next time will be in better condition
Extremely friendly staff added to the enjoyment
Have played these two courses the past 15 years.
In previous reviews have said that they were probably my favourite places to play.
I still love playing there but the dunes had major changes over a couple years with 3 or 4 new holes which made it better and since playing the pines a year ago they have made some big changes there.
They have changed the 1st and 10th over with each other which is no big deal. Taken lots of trees away which was part of its charm. Lots of new bunkers, big and difficult.
A few tee changes and fives to fours etc. also found it a bit scruffy, with fairways a bit parched whereas the dunes were well manicured.
Perhaps they have had problems there and these changes were needed. When they first started to change the dunes I had my doubts so perhaps it will come good.
So I will stay loyal to my favourite courses and continue to recommend them
Pretty tree lined course even if some of the holes were a bit "samey"
Small greens and a bit slow. Bunkers could be a bit better. General overall condition was good. Good clubhouse and friendly staff. Will definitely play again and one for our rota
Played the original east course.
Very nice and interesting layout. Quite short, but don't be misled it's tricky. Lots of bunkers, trees and some penal rough. Exceptionally fast, true greens.
Couldn't play the last hole as it is the week before the BMW PGA tournament , and was being used for car parking.
My host was the lovely Anna Guss who as a corporate member gets her fourball to play for £20 each. ( being the reason for top score on value)
Clubhouse OUTSTANDING. Everything you would expect of a club of this standing. Staff courteous , friendly and welcoming. Food excellent especially the coffee albeit a bit pricey.
Had a lovely day and should I be lucky enough to be asked again would hope to play the the other courses
Nice little course. Greens true a little slow, bunkers ok no rakes so could end up in footprint . Fairways good with rough quite penal. To sum up.. A municipal course, reasonable interest, good value at £21 and would put on our list courses to play throughout the year
Had a great deal at £20 thanks to our host Ashe tofte.
Course in lovely condition. Greens true if a little slow, fairways nice and bunkers( only found one) were in very good condition with lovely soft sand.
Thought at first the course was a bit up and down but it did develop. Two lovely signature holes ( 9th and 16th ) certainly made it memorable.
Slight criticism of the the course ..most holes had ditches to negotiate from the tee which tended to make it a bit samey
lovely clubhouse with tentative staff. Nice selection of food albeit a bit pricey. Had a chat with a few of the members who were very welcoming and hospitible.
All in all enjoyable day and would certainly pay again
Pleasant enough course. A little bit up and down, quite short and pretty tight. 5 par 3's with 3 quite long. Seems to drain well albeit there was a lot of surface water as the day before there was non-stop rain. Greens very small , making it a bit tough to hit and quite woolly. Bunkers quite compacted even with the rain and may not be too clever in the better weather. Clubhouse and pro shop friendly and welcoming. Good value at £20 (sat) will play it again .
Look at the card, 5400 yds, and your Charlie big potatoes, your going to kill it. Forget it. Short but tricky . Front 9 a lot easier, was hitting into he green with a wedge, but back 9 longer and more difficult . Bit scruffy in places, but after the winter we have had I feel it was generally in good nick. Bunkers were lovely with lots of sand, greens were true and were quite fast, again considering the weather. Smallish clubhouse but very welcoming and good selection of food etc. wouldn't want to play it every week but certainly would play a few times throughout the year
Nice interesting course.Considering the amount of rain we have had it was in excellent condition. Very wet underfoot but greens and fairways were extremely good. Long and tight in places which certainly makes you think. Nice welcoming clubhouse, friendly staff and a special Internet price of £57 for a fourball made for a very enjoyable round
No two holes the same, some beautiful views and a very interesting course. In good condition considering the weather we have had and the time of year. Greens had been treated and they seem to be taking a bit of time to come back, but I'm sure they will and will make for an even more enjoyable round. Modern clubhouse with a bit of character and nice staff.. Will certainly return
Inland links with some very tricky greens, undulating albeit a tad slow. A lot of blind shots and doglegs, and in my opinion would need to have played it before or with someone who has to score well. Don't go offline further than the second cut or you are in trouble. Nice new clubhouse with friendly attentive staff. Look forward to returning
pretty course with fantastic greens, undulating and fast. Rough was very tough but probably difficult to cut because of the rain we have had.Older style club house perhaps a bit tired, but staff very friendly and obliging. One criticism, the course is a little bit "samey" I suppose due to the fact only 3 par 3's and 2 par 5's. However a good test and would certainly play again
Never been too enthusiastic about links golf, but this was something else. Some breathtaking views, nicely laid out and a good challenge. Greens although true were very slow.Nice condition and although we had a gentle breeze and a dry day, I would imagine a very tough test with not as good weather. A basic clubhouse but very welcoming and friendly staff. Will certainly play again and has made me think again on links golf!!!!!
Nice mature course, tricky, and you have to think your way round. Played of the forward tees and would imagine very tough off the back slabs! Greens very slick and general condition good. Nice clubhouse and friendly staff, had a great day. Looking forward to playing it again
Considering its a public course, I was very impressed. Fairways very good, bunkers excellent and although the greens had been holed and treated you could see they would be a high standard. The course itself is very interesting albeit quite tight and quite a few blind shots. Because of the nature of the course you will have to play the ball above or below your feet at times. A good bar and friendly staff added to the day. The only down side is that they only have a small hut for breakfast, tea coffee etc which has a very limited choice. All in all enjoyable day and will definitely play again
Have played before. gets a bit the same. A few nice holes but condition could be a lot better. Bunkers quite poor, greens not consistent and around them quite bare. £25 a bit overpriced, but had a good fourball so enjoyed it all the same. Staff friendly and good value food and drink
Have played it before and as usual on a Saturday it will be a 5 hour round, however as it was a lovely day it wasn't too bad. Greens had just been treated so were a bit bobbly and slow but i;m sure will be fine in a week or two. Course generally in good nick and although only 5800 yds off the forward tees can be quite tricky. Certainly worth playing but would try for during the week
Deceiving course, you don't realise how long it is.Played off the forward tee's at 6500 yds. Starts with a few standard holes and then really comes into it's own. Some really pretty holes especially the ones with water. Condition was generally good all round with very true greens.Very dry course which must be good in the winter. Certainly one to play again!!!!
good facilities, nice and interesting albeit tougher than it looks. The day was absolutely rammed as everyone was using the groupon vouchers( £15 for golf and lunch)
which my son and his friend had( fantastic value).I had to pay full green fee Usually £30 however a bit of arm twisting and the pro only charged me £25 (good lad).Enjoyed the day and as I am known for saying "well worth a visit"
Have played it before but found it in much better condition than previously.A very interesting course and nicely laid out. friendly staff and good range of food etc. more than happy to play again
Played off yellow boxes, which makes it a bit short. Not bad condition, greens were ok, a bit wooly so a bit slow.A couple of interesting holes, worth a visit
Intresting course.Tight in places. Greens excellent as were the tees. Fairways a bit bare but due to the lack of rain this is understandable.Certainly worth playing.Would have played it again next week but was a bit rammed out due to a club comp
Have played it many times. A quality course. Quite long and tricky off the back slabs a good test. Greens not as fast as usual which are generally fast.A few fairways having some drainage work, but you will certainly enjoy a round here
