I've played here many times over the years and at the moment, it's the worst I've seen it. Fairways aren't actually too bad, but the greens? So not good.

Stunning course

It's just a stunningly beautiful setting to play golf. It's not an overly tricky course, but stray too far from the fairways, and the punishment can be severe. Placement and course management is the trick here. The 1st, 11th, 13th, 14th, and 15th all run alongside a beautiful seascape panoramic view and when the sun is shining like it was today.....well, it's a gem. Go play it, you won't be disappointed.

Really nice course

Having not played here before, and having heard good things about the course, I was not disappointed. The layout is good, fairways not bad for the time of year, tees a little patchy but only because the bulk of them are being given time to heal and there are a couple of mats. Greens are excellent. I was thinking of joining a club and I think I might have found "the one" lol

Little gem

I'd heard the stories and read the reviews and was expecting a tatty little muddy course, boy was I surprised. Apparently there has been a lot of work put into the place, the fairways are in excellent condition, greens pretty good apart from one. Some really interesting and challenging holes, some blind tee shots to contend with. Hedges to get over and some shrewdly placed water. Overall a very good course which I am keen to play again and probably again. Very pleasant round in bright sunshine.

Nice surprise

First time at Epping, I'd heard some good things and wasn't disappointed. Played off the whites as the yellows are very short. Fairways were pretty good, greens are fluffy and bubbling which isn't good. All in all I really enjoyed it apart from the holes where you play into a very low sun ??. The weather was great for mid Jan and I look forward to another round.

A bland and uninteresting course. More a bog than a golf course with x4 temporary greens and small, muddy, slippery tee boxes. Just a horrendous slog, not a winter course by any stretch.

Like it

Never played Mardyke before, at first glance from the clubhouse it reminded me of Cranham, couldn't have been more wrong. A gentle starting hole deceives you into thinking it's going to be a soft course but once you get into it, it is full of surprises. Some really interesting and quirky holes offer a decent challenge to most golfers. The course was surprising and pleasently dry which suggests fantastic drainage and more works going on around the course. Definitely one to play again when perhaps the wind isn't so strong, cold & sharp. Liked it a lot.

Not a bad course

Played with Rob Burnell as part of a society day. Very windy but weather wasn't too bad. Not an overly long course at just over 5600yds, a little quirky which i like and in fairly good condition. £25 is fair, nice breakfast and an enjoyably round. Would certainly play it again.

Overall a pretty decent parkland course, I wouldn't pay the usual £35 but we had a voucher for £15. Probably a good £20, maybe £25 course. Not overly long and in reasonable condition. Would certainly return for another go as I was abysmal today.

You get what you pay for

Public course which is actually a park, at £15 for an afternoon knock it's not too bad. Could do with some investment, especially some signage as it was difficult to navigate,but that's unlikely. All in all not a bad course which I'd happily play again despite the masses of people with and without dogs, almost got one of em lol.

Great course

I think I've found a course to rival toot hill, at least in my eyes. Really interesting layout, quite tricky and tight in places but overall a very nice place. I would rate it up there with the Toot but it loses a few points for the condition of the bunkers, of which there are many. But overall in good condition and another course that i can't wait to play again.

What a relaxing afternoons golf. Course in superb condition and very picturesque. A gentle walk but not ruined. This course doesn't always get the credit it deserves but i really enjoyed it, and the sun and the shorts were out, lovely

Good course

Played here many years ago and was interesting to see the new layout. 1st hole(formally par 5) has been converted into a downhill par 3 which is so much better. All in all the rest is much the same as before except the atrocious rough has been nicely cut back. Overall well maintained, greens a little bumpy but still a very nice public course. I will be back.

Interesting

Starts with an open par 5 which is good. A few good open fairways but a lot of tight tee shots follow, particularly on the back nine where good ball placement is essential. Overall not a bad course, inaccurate shots can be severely punished, looking forward to getting back and try to do better.

Great course

First time at Brentwood but certainly won't be my last. Really good layout with lots of interesting and different shaped holes. Quite muddy but it is november so cant wait to see it at its finest. Very windy today which added to the interest, as did the geese lol. I'll be back.

Good course

Played here for the first time and off the white(tough)/blue tees which weren't in the best condition. Very muddy in some areas which if it caught your ball would hold it like glue. Nicely laid out 9 hole course, would certainly play again but its a litte weather beaten at the moment.

Lovely course

First time at Cheshunt, really enjoyed it. Lovely fairways, greens are carpetlike, some nice challenges but overall a nice course for the mid to high handicapper. Low handicappers should slaughter this course. Will definitely be back again.

Having played here a couple of times before ,particularly during the really hot weather, the rain has certainly helped, its a little more lush now but still most balls roll for miles if hit in the right spot. Quite a testing course but a good challange. The par 3 3rd? Just wow, one of my playing partners missed his par put by 1 inch on the low side and ball turned 90 degrees and off the green, his next was a foot short and rolled back off the green. My bogey put was 6 inchs long and rolled back into the hole, funny but ridiculous.

Beautiful course with some very tight fairways, water hazards on several holes. Well maintained, greens undulating and speedy. Very enjoyable round thanks in no small way to my playing partners, Paul and Lester, thanks lads. I'll be back lol

Interesting course

Nice course, quite hilly on the front 9, would recommend hiring a buggy if anyway unfit like myself. Tight fairways which tend to catch out the higher handicappers, like myself. Overall an enjoyable experience and i will definitely visit again.

I really enjoy this course, have played 4 times now. expansive fairways which are good for the high handicappers but also some good challenges. Played today in wet conditions and the greens were quite saturated but still playable.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Toot hill, beautifully set up with some challenging holes. Fairways and greens were well maintained. Good value for money. I loved the signature island par 3. Best course I've played so far since i started playing again, as Arnie said "I'll be back" lol

Good course

Quite a challenge for a first timer, fairways are baked, bunkers lack sand, greens well maintained. Overall an enjoyable experience with my new pal Andy(cheers).
