A must play course

Parkland and Heather course, played off the whites and you have to hit long to get passed the Heather before the fairways, great layout, bunkers very deep but in superb condition, greens very fast and with lots of underlations so expect lots of three puts with ball running off the green on many greens, the course is really for low handicappers and not for the faint hearted, Food superb,

****5****

Toot Hill, well where do you start, having played a large amount of courses especially in November when there's been rain and leaves everywhere, this course had been cleared of all leaves to leave superb lush green carpet fairways, the greens were fast and undulating, this course was playing better than any course I have seen in the summer, club house friendly staff and food 5* the island hole is a superb feature always get treated well here other clubs could learn a lot from them. Only praise no complaints at all will always go back

Breakfast could be better

Ditto 100% agree with Judy

The best part of the breakfast was the bacon. The egg was overcooked, sausage undercooked and bread and butter served instead of toast. Tea and coffee were self serve with stewed water in flasks. No spoons were provided, only wooden sticks. Very disappointing.

The Hidden Gem

Pretty parkland, fairly tight in places, fair ways and greens good, back nine very nice, little bit quirky in places but loved it, would be a lot better in the nicer weather as it was very boggy today 26th January 2015, pro shop very friendly and the club house and the members made you welcome, makes a nice change from some of the places, nothing was too much for them thanks and will see you soon

True Class

As you you drive in you know you just know it, s going to be great. Just drive up to the impressive club house and the valet takes your car and tells you the buggy will be waiting outside with a top of the range rental clubs will be be on board. After breakfast it was free range balls and putting green to use.Your name gets called over the tanoy to be on the first tee, the buggy is fitted with sat nav, ice bucket tees pencil and even the score card was in place. This course is superb in every way water comes into play and bunkers every where you have to have nerves of steel. Iced water on most holes, and toilets on 7 of them. The fairways are immaculate and tricky greens to match, the drinks and food cart comes round very often, sheer class.

Superb parkland course truly immaculate, bunkers the best I have seen anywhere, the greens were the fastest greens I have come across and if you go slightly past the hole your in trouble, 3 putting and even 4 putt was quite easy to do, to get the ball to stop on the greens was really difficult, all in all this is a superbly manicured course

Wow !!!! What a Gem!!!

This is a Gem of a course in superb condition as its owned by Toothill, the greens are undulating fast and in great condition, bunkers and lots of water come into play, the 4th par 4 watch out for the water to the left of the green, 5th par 3 149 yds tee shot over lake no room for error here, 7th par 5 dog leg right totally destroyed me (must try harder)12th par 5 again green to the right. 14th par 4 dogleg right huge lake I found hard to carry and lost 2 balls in the drink but a GREAT hole.18th island hole par 3 yes in the water again, all in all a great course cant wait to play again very well maintained.

Well worth the visit

The club is named after the Greenwich Meridian Line which runs through the course. It's a mix of classic links and parkland, with water hazzards on all but 5 of the holes and large undulating greens, you will need a fearless approach and a steady head. The 9th is a severe dog leg right and tempting to cut the corner but not allowed as you have to to go over a pair of brooks which is stated on the card. Two of the par 3's are very long at a hefty 200yds which was hard to reach as being accurate is important, there are 5 par 5's dog legs play a large part. I loved the course and will definately play again as I think course knowlwedge would have helped

As August 2013 Channels has lost 5 of its main holes number 1,2,6,7,8 due to them selling land for houses, its been replaced with 5 holes from the Belstead tranfered to Channels I prefered it before the change but this wont stop me playing there again

Worth a visit

You drive up a quiet and private drive with the 13th and 18th holes on your right.
Shendish Manor then looms up and you think you have found something special.
You start with 145yard par 3. What immediately concerned me was the tee for the 7th. It lies just right of the first hole. It left our group with a frustrated feeling to be waiting until the other tee was clear. The course is very much two halves. The first half is somewhat bland and uninteresting, but as a result offers some good chances to build a strong base of a score, but the old 9 makes up for this, with some tight tree lined dog lefts and undulations the course opens up for some longer drives but accuracy is key so consider laying up. Don’t be fooled by the short length of the course you need to be accurate approaching the back 9 greens and on many holes put your driver away or you’ll be in trouble! would return even if just to play the back 9

Torrey Pine

Spectacular and challenging both South and North on the outskirts of San Diego. The South course tests a players skill with tight fairways, lush rough, pine trees, bunkers, add challenging weather conditions as its at the top of a cliff which looks out to the Pacific ocean, and views of a huge natural canyon.
1st The tee shot is slightly dog leg right with bunkers both sides of the green, this hole plays into wind off the ocean. 2nd The green slopes severely from back to front and are grease lightning. 3rd is a par 3 with two tier green sloping dramatically from left to right and you hit towards the ocean, very good experience was not used to such fast greens and pricey at £150 a round.

Well worth a visit

Sandy Lodge golf course is very pretty and challenging fairways quite generous but the bunkers and there is plenty of them are extremely hard to get out of, the 2nd hole looking at the flag with a huge sleeper bunker in front you will need nerves of steel to get over. The 8th short par 3 only 95 yards don,t be fooled by this short hole bunkers in front and difficult to hit the greeen. the course is great to play but be warned steer clear of these punishing bunkers, they are DEEP.

Not a long course and easy to walk, You must be able to do straight drives as it's quite narrow in parts and the trees get in the way a lot.Started of with a par and thought great here we go, then disaster on the second hole par 4, it sounded like Woody Woopecker I think I hit evey tree on that hole and scored a shocking 9. The third par 3 was a great elevated tee area looking down to the flag 136 yards managed to get a 4. Great course (but expensive)

superb course, quite a walk to the first tee, the 1st is a par 3 water water everywhere you have to be spot on no room for error, hard opening hole for high handicapers. This course has a variety of differnet holes and plays like a lynx on some holes and others you think you are in the USA. All in all great course even though a touch dear.

Fantastic Course well worth a visit

Another one of my favourite courses, the first tee is elavated you won't get into too much trouble keep it long and straight. The 7th par 3 is 100ft elavated and the green looks like a postage stamp only 226yds still quite a hard hole and the views are great from up here. there are some very steep hills not for the unfit. if your walking and see someone with a buggy suggest you thumb a lift. I love this course!!!!!!!!!!

Good course worth a visit

Not the longest course but well worth a visit, you have to think on the course to plot your way round, the 15th (The Long Hall) great par 5, and as for the 17th (Watery grave) this hole can ruin a good score card, you need a great straight drive and then only the brave with attempt the green, not for the faint hearted, all in all great, the food and staff are superb. That's All Folks!!!!1

Hainault

Lower course, plays longer than upper, conditions very good, now this club has a new owner they are putting a great deal of effort in to make this a top course as it should be. greens are starting to run fast as this is how they are making them, I think a few more months and it will get there.
