Golfers thinking course (course management)

Parkland mature tree line course with tight fairways, doglegs and you can’t even see the green flag. I went round only using a 3 & 5 wood. Due to undulating hilly fairways with slops. Fairways & green side bunkers and rise domed greens. So course management comes into play. The greens were quick .Some bunkers could do with more sand in them. Overall the course was in good nick.
You will find practices putting green, driving nets & friendly staff.
Green fees Sunday 1pm £50 I went with a member so it was only £25.
It might be short 5704 off the yellow. But it’s a golfers thinking course (course management)
Would recommend to any golfer to have a round. You would not be disappointed.

9 hole mature inland links, carved in a woodland with Revetted turf bunkers

Southport Old Links is a Southport Old Links is a 9 hole mature inland links, carved in a woodland.
The fairways are tight undulating, some with dog legs with fairway Revetted turf bunkers (St Andrews style layers of turf) & lateral ditches. 1st cut about a yard wide. The rough is brutal (lost ball) So course management comes into play.
Fairway, greens and bunkers were in good condition.
The only water I saw was on Hole 5 a cannel on the left running the full length.
Practise putting green,2 driving nets. No Chipping next to the club house. Friendly staff, small pro shop.

Carved in Epping Forest mature tree line parkland course with tight fairways. So course management comes into play. Undulating hilly fairway with not many hazards what I could see? Fairway and greens were in good condition. The greens were quick with subtle brakes. Bunkers looked hard. Would recommend and at £15 mid-week great valve

Championship course at 6500 yards off the yellow

Championship course at 6500 yards off the yellow is Open parkland tree course with a good design. Some undulating Greens. Fairways, bunkers & greens were in good condition for spring. The 1st cut was stickie & thick. For me as a short hitter I found it long but enjoyable. There’s a practise area putting green, chipping green, driving nets. Good pro-shop house. The only bad thing was price at the bar over £8 for paint of Peroni

Very mature tree lined parkland course with an easy walk, undulating fairway, dogleg holes, fairway bunkers, lateral ditches & water hazards therefore course management comes into play with true undulating greens.
The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition. Off the yellows its 5834 so it suits all handicap. It’s just the greens so fast.
Driving nets, large practise putting chipping green. Great Club house, friendly staff.
Overall a very excellent course will definitely play it again and worth a visit. I went on a corporate day, otherwise a bit prices @ £70 during the weekday

Short 18 hole New & Old course

At 5655 off the whites it’s a short 18 hole course. It’s made up of the Old and the New course.
Originally it was a 9 hole course with 2 tee boxes, with an easy walk.
The Old part is mature tree lined parkland course with undulating fairway, 11th dogleg hole, lateral ditches, fairway bunkers & therefore course management comes into play. Greens fairways and bunker were all in good condition.
The NEW is an inland links type of course with small greens in good condition. But the fairways are awful it like a field (open far too early summer 2021). Very difficult to navigate from tee to green. Bunker had different type of new sand.
2 driving nets & practises putting chipping green.
Good Club house & with friendly staff. Pro Shop non-existent. I was told the course has been sold for housing development. Forecast to close in 2024? I gave 3 because half of the fairways are awful.

Better than some private courses

Its 6238 yards off the yellows a mature tree lined parkland course with an easy undulating fairway walk, dogleg holes, fairway bunkers, lateral ditches & water hazards(some hidden) therefore course management comes?
The greens were true & undulating fairways were all in very good condition, some private clubs would jealous. Sadly the bunkers were very hard or had freshly laid sand. Ball cleaner on the tees some were broken. There was several long par 4’s.So if you’re a short hitter like me you will struggle to get there in 2.
With driving range, driving nets in rundown condition & practises putting chipping green, driving range& halfway house snack bar.
Pro Shop was non-existent with friendly staff.
Overall a very good course will definitely play it again and worth a visit.
We paid £15 Sunday @ 11 o’clock through Play More Golf great valve.
Overall a very good municipal course better than some private courses, will definitely play again and worth a visit.

Long Open Link style course

A long Open Link style course at 6274yds off the yellow. Due to the openness of the course any wind feels a lot more. We had a 15mph wind it feels a lot more.
Fairways are open and lush with no real hazards on the 1st9.
On the 2nd 9 lateral hedges and water come into play. Some blind holes over hills with a marker poles.
Dog leg right holes 3rd & 5th. With this in mind course management comes into play?
Greens a bit bubbly but overall pretty good apart from 13th.
Bunkers were poor and hard very little sand.
Sadly no practise nets. Small Putting green next to the 1st. There is a Driving range.
Club house had friendly staff. Did not see a Pro Shop.
Hot drinks out of a machine and the Bar was closed?
Also you can’t book a tee time you turn up and join the queue. We were lucky we were behind a single and 4 ball and waited 20 minutes.
Overall a good course worth visit. £14 midweek.
Tough track for me at 6274 yards

Two contrasting 9's

Dean Wood is an established course with two contrasting 9's .The 1st9 is mature tree lined parkland course with undulating fairways with fairway bunkers. The 2nd9 is completely different basically 9 holes in a valley but not exhausting walk. Which I found a challenge. Lateral streams & not a flat piece of ground. Therefore course management comes into play? Greens were good & ran true. Fairways were in good condition as well.
With driving nets & practise putting chipping greens. Good Club house & Pro Shop with friendly staff. Overall a very good course will definitely play again and worth a visit

At £45 visitors green fee it’s a bit pricy with Toot Hill down the run at £30 for the same quality.

Its 6418 yards off the yellows a mature tree lined parkland course with an easy undulating fairway walk, dogleg holes, fairway bunkers, lateral ditches & water hazards(some hidden) therefore course management comes?
The greens were true & undulating, fairways & bunkers were all in very good condition, with ball cleaner on the tees. There was several long par 4’s.So if you’re a short hitter like me you will struggle to get there in 2.
With driving range, driving nets & practise putting chipping green & bunkers.
Good Club house & Pro Shop with friendly staff.
Overall a very good course will definitely play it again and worth a visit.
At £45 visitors green fee it’s a bit pricy with Toot Hill down the run at £30 for the same quality. However we had a vouches and pay £22 excellent value. One of Daryl deals…
Definitely worth playing this course at least once you won’t regret it. I would come back.

"Value for Money" is base on members rate of £20 not £80

Well established heathland/parkland treed lined course in great condition.
At over 6100 off the yellow it’s a long course. With firm, fast & true undulating greens & carpet fairways. With 4,5,6 bunkers per holes. Some bunkers are the Revetting type.and not forgetting the wicked long deep rough
Good practice facilities include a chipping and bunker practice area & nets
Pro shop, Friendly staff.
The £80 visitors green fee is to keep the visitors away. However members guest rate of £20 was excellent value.
You have to play this course at least once you won’t regret it....But with a member

Worth a visit but a bit prices @ £60 look for a deal

Essendon NEW is over 6000 yards off the yellows a very mature tree lined parkland course with an easy undulating fairway walk, dogleg holes, fairway bunkers & water hazards therefore course management comes into play with true undulating greens.
The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition but the 2nd cut was punishing due to the thickness. There was several long par 4’s. So if you’re a short hitter like me you will struggle to get there in 2.The driving range was a very long distance from the 1st tee with about 10 bays & prices. I would recommend using the large driving net next to the starter’s hut, with the practise putting chipping green & bunkers next door .Great Club house, friendly staff but service very slow. Overall a very good course will definitely play it again and worth a visit. I went on a corporate day, otherwise a bit prices @ £60 during the weekday look for a deal?

Rated the 9th best course in England

Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas design course. Rated the 9th best course in England Is a mature tree line parkland municipal course which had an easy walk with undulating & some tight fairways.
Greens were good & ran pretty true. Fairways were in good condition. But if you run off the fairways into the 1st cut or under the trees it is very easy to lose a ball.
Some bunker had wooden steps going down. There was several long par 4. So if you’re a short hitter like me you will struggle to get there in 2.
Practise chipping/ putting green. Driving range. Ball waters
Also has a great pro shop with a huge selection of equipment and clothing.
Overall a very good course will definitely play again and worth a visit

Tucked away in the Essex countryside

Mature tree line parkland course with undulating fairways some with small climbs. Some fairways had lateral ditches & ponds. Therefore course management comes into play. Most of the Fairways were in good condition. Sadly the greens were very slow. Bunkers some were good some poor.
Did not see any practise facilities. Club house & pro shop had friendly staff.
At £17.50 with an English breakfast its great value for money. Overall worth a visit

Mature parkland tree line course with small ponds, lateral ditches bunkers & undulating fairways with some doglegs. So course management comes into play. Fairway, Bunkers & Greens were all in great condition. Green fast undulating & true. Overall good mix of holes.
Practise putting chipping green, 2 x driving nets & range with ball cleaner on the tees. Pro shop, Friendly staff. Big change room. We paid £15 one of Daryl deals should have been £40
Definitely worth playing, I would come back.

Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing, I would come back. Value for Money basic on Group On deal.

Enville Golf Club has two courses.

Highgate is a mature tree line parkland course with section of heater on the first 9. Which had an easy walk with undulating fairways, with fairway bunkers in all the right places?

Some tight fairways, and some dog legs & a pond at 16th. So, course management comes into play.

Some fairways were still suffering from the hot 2018 summer overall the course was in good condition. Bunkers were good. The greens were fast, true & cross cut the best I’ve played.

Practise putting chipping green, bunker, driving field, one driving nets and ball cleaner on the tees.

Pro shop, Friendly staff.

Green fees Mon-Friday a bit pricey for me £60.

I played in a corporate day. So free.

I would recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Tight holes

Frist 9 mature parkland, the second 9 more open. This had an easy walk with some undulating fairways. Tight fairways and fairway bunkers some hidden ponds & ditches. 90deg dog legs 7th par 5. So, course management comes into play.
Some fairways were still suffering from the hot 2018 summer overall the course, greens & bunkers were in good condition. Some long walks from green to tees.
Friendly staff, no pro shop, paid over the bar Driving Nets, Putting Greens, driving range. We paid £13 summer twilight 1:30pm

Worth playing

Mature low-lying links style course looking over the Irish Sea with an easy walk. Drive straight and you will score well. But if the winds up from the Irish Sea that's another problem, could be a card braker. Few short holes you need to take advantage of. Pop hole bunkers around the greens. Couple of open ditches, ponds in front of the tees, with dog legs.
Overall the course was in good nick and enjoyable on a clam sunny day Practise putting green,2 driving nets. Chipping area a little away from the club house. Friendly staff, pro shop.

Challenging worth playing

A good mature tree line parkland course which had an easy walk to it.
With undulating fairways, fairway bunker, lateral ditches and some tight tree line fairways.
Course management comes into play on a lot of the holes.
The 1st9 holes tee boxes generally had a pond in front of it, which can make it a bit off putting when driving off the tee.
Sadly due to the hot/dry summer of 2018 the course was suffering. Would give more?
Practise chipping/ putting green. Driving field. No golf ball washers.
Friendly staff but not much more! Formerly known as “North West National”
We paid £20 for a Friday 1:30 tee off a bit pricey.
Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing, I would come back

Good municipal mature tree line parkland course

A good municipal mature tree line parkland course which had an easy walk with undulating fairways. Fairways were in good condition, but if you run off the fairways into the 1st cut it is very easy to lose a ball. Sadly the greens had just been sanded. The 7th is a tough par 3 with a ditch in front of the green and over hanging tree branches.
My only criticism of this course is the bunkers which are in very poor condition (very little sand)
Practise chipping/ putting green. No driving nets.
A very good course for the price will definitely play again. Also has a great pro shop with a huge selection of equipment and clothing.

Felt claustrophobic

A 9 hole mature, tree lined course with small greens. An easy walk (flattish) which felt claustrophobic due to the close proximity of the tee boxes, greens and the club house and with some cross over holes and public foot paths on the periphery of the course. Tight fairway with little rough so if you do go onto the other fairway there could be a shot onto the green. With good course management you can score well. One driving net, small car park. Friendly staff. Did not see any practise chipping/ putting green. It feels shorter than 6114 yards off the yellow?
Some big clubs would be envious of the fairway, greens and bunkers. “Value for Money” weekday £22 which is a bit pricey. I paid an internet price of £10

Flat course good for practicing

An open flat 9 hole course with fairway bunkers & good true greens. Some water features can come into play. Fairways had lots of worm castles properly the time of the year? The bunkers & greens were in good sharp. The course is a good practice course or for a quick round.
You will find a driving range & well stock pro shop with friendly staff. Did not see any practise chipping/ putting green etc. There are signs of redevelopment underway some part
“Value for Money” weekend is £19.50 which makes it pricey. I paid an is internet price of £7

A good test of golf it has a bit of everything.

A good municipal mature tree lined hilly parkland course with undulating fairways with some tight fairways & dogleg holes with fairway bunkers & true greens. Don’t remember seeing any water hazards. There are some lateral ditches so course management comes into play on some of the holes.
The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition. Not much rough due to the trees.
You will find practice putting green, driving nets & friendly staff. Overall a good challenge.
Sadly no racks for the bunkers. We paid £12 with a free paint of beer. At £27 is about normal now days.
A good test of golf it has a bit of everything. It's had a lot of money spent on it in the last couple of years and it's now paying off. It gets thumbs up from me. Definitely worth playing.

Top winter course when all others are muddy

This is one of the best maintained pay & play golf courses you will find around in the winter, when all others will be shut or too muddy.
The staff is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome.
The course is played tee to green all year round (no mats or temporary greens).
The fairways and greens are in excellent condition.
This course is a bit on the short side at only just over 5000 yards and it is fairly open so you’ll struggle to lose a ball other than in the water.
It’s good for higher handicappers trying to improve generally but also useful for lower handicappers who would struggle to have more than a 9 iron into greens on most par 4's (good for your short game)
The best holes are the 7th (par 5), 14th (par 4), 18th (par 3 - signature hole - over water / island green).
I would recommend this course
Sadly no practice nets or putting green.

Mature tree line parkland course which had an easy walk with undulating fairways.
With fairway bunkers all in the right places.
Only the 3rd has a pond water hazards on the left of the fairway.
The greens are fast & true the best I’ve played.
Practise putting/chipping green, indoor driving nets! Driving range. Tee Ball washers.

The course was in excellent condition.
Old charm club house & pro shop with friendly staff.
“Value for Money” is based on internet price of £21 normally £45which makes it a bit pricey.
This is a club I would become a member.
Would recommend to any golfer to have a round. You would not be disappointed.

Walk down the Hall of Fame

You enter Wentworth by a long drive lined with Rhodadens.
The Porsche just sat perfectly in the car park.
Fantastic practice facilities with lavish changing rooms, pro shop & club.
Gently undulating fairway gives each hole its own distinctive appearance. Characteristic of the layout are several dog-leg holes that lead you through corridors of Pine & Birch trees, with fairway bunkers & lateral ditches, so course management comes into play. With fast tricky greens.
There are some long walks between green to tee, but this give you more of the Wentworth expertise.
After the round came the shopping in the Pro shop. Well I’ve never seen anything like it of course I bought a ball marker and then walked down the Hall of Fame. Take time and stop at the various golf clubs on the wall, donated by the world’s top golfers Seve,Faldo,Westwood just to name a few.
Then into the bar and sat down outside looking over the practise green it was a perfect end to a perfect day.

Mature tree lined hilly parkland course with undulating fairways, dogleg holes, fairway bunkers & some water hazards with true undulating greens.

The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition but the rough is punishing.
There are some holes which have a long walk between them. £40/£60 a bit prices.
You will find practise chipping/ putting green, driving nets & friendly staff in a large club house
Overall a good challenge not for the faint hearted.
Definitely worth playing.

Mature tree lined parkland course with undulating fairways with fairway bunkers & some water hazards with true undulating greens. With some super 'driving' holes.
Course management comes into play on the Dogleg holes, and there’s 14th cardiac hill!
The greens, fairways & bunkers were all in good condition.
There are some holes which have a long walk between them and it can be difficult to find the next tee.
Also some tees are close to greens, and a public footpath runs through part of the course.
Value is basic on an internet price of £12 Saturday twilight 2 o’clock (Summer 2015).
You will find practise chipping/ putting green, driving nets & friendly staff.
Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing. One of favourite courses

Like the name suggest the course is in a valley.

Mature tree lined parkland course with undulating greens & striped fairways (some tight) with fairway bunkers & water hazards and deep green side bunkers.
The green, fairways & bunkers all were in good condition.
Some tees are close to greens, and a public footpath runs through to centre of the course.
Value basic on internet price £12@ Sunday (Nov 2014) Pricy at £35.
You will find practise chipping/ putting green, driving nets & friendly staff.
Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing, I would come back.

It’s the sort of course to practise your approach shots, short game.

Mature tree line sort parkland 9 hole course with tight fairways, pond water hazards and fairway bunkers. So course management comes into play with an easy walk.
Bunkers were hard. Some tee boxes were a bit poor. Overall the course was in good nick.
I would think in the height of summer the ground would be very hard.
Practise putting chipping green and some ball cleaners. No driving nets. Friendly staff, no pro shop, paid over the bar.
The “Value for money” is base on a £5 twilight (Aug 2014) £16 for a weekend a bit dear (one/two star) to many internet deals are around.
It’s the sort of course to practise your approach shots, short game.
So I would go back for this.

Excellent club house & pro shop with friendly staff.
Practise putting/chipping green & 2 driving nets (requiring TLC).

Overall a good challenge, definitely worth playing, I would come back.

Good municipal course..

A good municipal open long parkland course with wide undulating/sloping fairways & fairway bunkers.
So good course management comes into play to score well.
The only water hazards was on the 18th (not readily in play)
The greens have just been sanded, so were slow, with very little brakes in them.
Bunkers were in good condition.
Some of the fairways were tire thought.
Excellent club house & pro shop with friendly staff.
Small practise putting/chipping green & driving range.
Sadly no driving nets.

Overall a fair challenge I would come again

Open course with a links feel to it with undulating fairways with an easy walk.
But if the wind is up it makes the course much more difficult.
At 6364 yards off the yellow it does not seem to play long?
With some holes guarded by rills (gravel ditches) and fairway bunkers so course management comes into play.
Some super 'driving' holes.
Greens true and in superb condition. Bunkers well sanded.
Club house & pro shop had friendly staff, with a large putting green, driving range, but sadly no chipping green.
Definitely worth playing, I would come back.

You got too hit fairways (but isn’t that part of the game?)

Mature tree line sort parkland course cut in Epping Forest with some undulating fairways with firm & true greens with green side bunkers an easy walk. Every hole is individual.
Rewarding course, not just a “grip & rip driver”.
I went round only using a 5 wood & irons off the tees.
Your course management will have to be at its best as there are plenty of doglegs more left then right with tight fairways.
No water hazards but some holes have lateral ditches & hedges. Bunkers OK. Some tee boxes were a bit poor.
Overall the courser was in excellent condition.
Excellent club house & pro shop with friendly staff.
Practise putting green, driving nets, ball cleaner on every tee box.

Suits a big hitter, but remember your course management!!!

Parkland course with an easy walk.
Tight tree line in places with 6 holes guarded by water with mature Oak trees on or off the fairways.
Fairway bunkers and 2 dog leg holes come into play so course management is required (GPS/Garmin).
It’s over 6600 yards off the yellow so it suits a big hitter, but remember the hazards.
Firm & true greens in good condition.
Fairways/bunkers were good.
Excellent club house & pro shop & friendly staff.
Practise chipping, putting green, driving nets, Towels & ball cleaner on every tee box.
"Value for money" is base on internet price of £12, normally £30 for a Sunday 2 o’clock tee off.
You have to play this course at least once you won’t regret it....but it is long.

Awesome best I’ve played in Essex.

This course is one of the best I’ve played in Essex. Mature tree line parkland course with undulating fairways with firm, fast & true greens in superb condition & bunkers, with some super 'driving' holes.
Your course management will have to be at its best as there are plenty of doglegs right & left.
You also have to take an extra club when approaching the greens as many are elevated, too short and you have an awkward pitch shot too long and the same.
£40 during the week it makes it a bit pricey but if you’re a 4-ball you only pay for 3 a better deal.
You have to play this course at least once you won’t regret it....

Pretty municipal short parkland course, with an easy walk (flattish) for the high/mid handicap player.

Overall the course was in good condition.
Value for Money base on £12 internet before noon Sunday, normally £21.50 a bit pricey.
No practise area at all, only a driving range.

Mature tree line parkland course with a lovely backdrop.
The 1st 9 has undulating fairways (some hilly) with some holes guarded by water & fairway bunkers.
The 2nd 9 more flatter with fairway bunkers, were you can pick up your points?
There are 5 cross over holes, which can make you feel a bit uneasy on the tees & fairways?
If you can go with somebody who has played the course before, because you require course management.
Greens a bit slow, bunkers had hard sand. Some tee boxes were not flat.But they are doing a lot of work on the course so some part of the course not at it best.
Club house & pro shop had friendly staff, with a large practise area/bunker, putting green, driving nets.
This is a club I would become a member.

Disappointed because of the fairways & bunkers

Almenara consist of 3 loops of 9 holes. Alcornoques (Corks) Lagos (Lakes) & Pinos (Pines)
Greens were in good condition fast undulating and true.
Fairways were poor. I would say 50% of the fairways were bare or very little green. The Pinos being the worst.
Bunkers were very poor about 60% had very little sand or none at all.
2 practise putting greens one outside the pro shop very friendly staff, and the other next to the 1st tee on the Lagos.
The distant between holes & each course can be very long and hilly.
The chipping area with 3 practise holes was at the driving range which was off the complex about ¼ miles away.

Alcornoques is very hilly course with very undulating fairways and greens. Some holes guarded by water at the side. The 5th par 3 is only 127 yard but drop down 70 feet to a thin green.

Lagos like the name suggests has a lot of holes guarded by water with very undulating fairways and greens. The 7th par 3 is 180 yards, but you have to carry 150 yards over water.

Pinos is a mature pine course. With tight undulating fairways with O/B’s & undulating greens.

I found all 3 courses very testing because of the design and undulating fairways and greens.

Trolley 7 Euros, Buggy 28 Euros, 18 holes should be 65 Euros around.

All 3 courses had some super 'driving' holes & views
The hotel was super 4 star.

At £290 for 4 days bed breakfast, 3 rounds of golf, fights & transfer it’s a good deal. Any more then £350 I would think again, because of the condition of the fairways.

Golf tip, using the local contours of the course your ball will go a long way??

Quite simply one of the best courses I have ever played.

Mature parkland course, with undulating fairways with water hazards. With fast true greens.
The first few holes are very straight forward.
After the 4th the course gets interesting as you go round.

Large practise area with a bunker, driving net, putting, chipping green, & friendly staff.
At £45 mid week is pricey, but using 2-4-1 vouchers made it more affordable at £22.50 to play.

Leave the "hit & hope" game at home

Mature parkland course, with undulating fairways on a lot of the holes with water hazards on virtually every hole. Fairway bunkers & lateral ditches lay in wait on many of the holes, so thoughtful approach is needed if you wish to avoid the many hazards that lie in wait. Fairways were fine,greens were ok to poor but puttable.Sadly some bunkers had grass growing in them. Starting marshals, information boards, directions between holes excellent. Practise putting/chipping green, driving nets & friendly staff. I would recommend to everyone give it a go you wont be disappointed, but it is a tough track!

Open parkland course with some cross over holes. Fairways, bunkers & greens were in good condition. Undulating greens, some guarded by water & bunkers with very good par 3's. A good test. Practise chipping green, putting green, driving nets. Excellent club house. I will be coming back.

Mathern a very English course.

St Pierre Mathern course
The whole Open mature parkland course was in good condition. The green are true/quick. With lateral ditches and undulating fairways on some of the holes, so course management comes into play. Suites people of all abilities. We paid £25 as part of a golfing weekend. I found the course very testing because of the design. Definitely recommended.

"Old Course” is walking in history.

St Pierre Old Course
The green are true/undulating & quick, with undulating fairways, the whole mature parkland course was in great condition. Course management comes into play on a lot of holes. Suites people of all abilities. We paid £35 as part of a golfing weekend. I found the course very testing because of the undulating ground and the design. “Old Course” is walking in history. Definitely recommended. I birdie the 14th.

Definitely worth playing.

The first 15 holes are Medium/Open fairways with the last 3 holes having tighter fairways. Some of the fairways were undulating with water hazards. The course had a nice design. Fairways, bunkers & greens were true and all in good condition. I found the course very testing course because of the undulating ground and the design. Definitely worth playing.

Bunkers are deep sided with wooden sleepers

Open link style course, and when the wind is up it makes the course more difficult.
Bunkers OK but some with deep sided with wooden sleepers, in the winter the greens are at there best.
In the summer the fairways are very hard.
The 8th a tackling 106 yard par 3 which is surrounded by water and when the wind blowing it’s a great test of courage.
Free buggy on Monday to Fridays. The coloured flag system, is CHAP you can't no see the blue flag.
Sadly no practise nets or putting green just a driving range, chipping green GUP
For £18 it’s OK any more I don’t think so.
I only play this course in the wet months & pay £10 internet.

Both courses have holes guarded by water front, left & right, so a little bit of thought comes into play.
The course has a good design to them.
The Quality went down only because of The Horndon

Nice course. Bloody hilly but no water hazards apart from the 18th.
The greens were a little bit bumpy in places. Plenty of bunkers to contend with. There are more trees than I have ever seen on a golf course but the layout is well designed. The fairways are quite narrow and you have to be pretty straight to get round.

Worth a visit

The course is either side of a little valley with a stream running along the bottom. The layout takes full advantage of this natural hazard with many of the longer holes running from one side of the valley to the other and the stream having to be negotiated, usually in reach of the tee shot.
The greens were in good condition. But the fairways are a bit bare in places.
The novelty bonus of reaching holes 12 to 16 by passing under the railway were the courser is more flatter. (I think it was a field in its past life)The other holes make up for this with a good design & shape.
We were welcomed at reception - which turned out to be the bar as there is no pro shop and were you pay your green fees.
We paid £10 for twilight (twilight starts at 1:00pm)it was busy so we started on the 10th.
Also can get muddly & soft in the winter months.

Three Rivers Jubilee Course

Three Rivers Jubilee Course is an open short 4284 yards, par 64 off the yellows course for the high/mid handicap player, although it is not a long course it has a nice design too it with an easy walk. The greens are in good condition and overall the whole course was in good shape. Although some of the bunkers could have done with a little more sand and it is a bit of a walk between some holes. I would recommend this course to somebody who has just taken up the beautiful game of golf. We paid £6 each twilight at the weekend, 2 ball went round in 3 hours. We will be coming again.

Five Lakes Links Course is an open link type of course. The 1st 9 is a bit up & down, but all changes on the 2nd 9.
March 2011:-The only sad point was the greens, which require a lot of TLC. We paid £12 each for a Sunday 12o’clock tee off time in March 2011. Booking it thorough www.teeofftimes.co.uk. We were a 2 ball and went round in 4 3/4 hours it was busy. "Value for Money" 3star because I would not pay £35 which they demand for this course because of the greens, my advice is twilight or during the week. The course is part of a health club (say no more)


March 2013:- two years on. What a difference green/fairways were a lot better. It could be the wet winter? Still £12.

Castle Point Links Course is a 5902 yard’s off the yellows, par 71 public course. The course is for the high/mid handicap player. The 1st 9 is the easier part the 2nd 9 is more like a links course. The Greens are puttable, but some are a bit poor. Sadly no practise nets or putting green just an open field with thick grass, also no racks in the bunkers. There is a driving range.
